A great resource to hand out to students. Many of them have no idea what their rights are as an immigrant.

Someone hacked into our district so weβve been without infinite campus for almost two weeks now. π© No way to take attendance reliably, check student schedules, contact parents or put any grades in the grade book.

My roommate teaches film at university. She has to turn in her syllabus in Dec for the class sheβll teach Spring sem. The goal is that no changes are made to the syllabus. This is WILD to me! I know HS β university but I am constantly adjusting my plans based on student needs.
Our school is having an issue with our Rohingya-speaking students because we have no way to communicate with their parents. Rohingya is mostly a spoken language so we can't use google translate and the district has no interpreters who speak Rohingya. Anyone else deal with this?
My newcomers are mostly Spanish-speaking and it wasnβt until a week into our trig unit that I realized when I write βthetaβ on the board to give them the name of the symbol they were all reading it as βtetaβ. π
Iβm teaching newcomers this year for the first time and yes itβs hard but oh my gosh Iβve never had such sweet students. Today we came back from a week of fall break and several high schoolers gave me a hug and told me theyβd missed me. π₯Ή

I need advice on how to build community in a Grade 9 advisory class where nobody wants to talk. (Like I give them a would you rather ? to talk about with their partners and the room is silent.) Our most successful activity so far has been scattergories which they thought was fun.

The semester starts tomorrow. Yes, encourage students to come to office hours, but also remember to give them examples of why students have gone:
Any tips for helping #MLLs to recognize vertical/supplementary/corresponding angles? I have lots of visuals around the room that we reference, but I feel like the idea isn't getting through to some of my students who are just beginning to learn English. #iteachmath #mtbos

I'm curious if other teachers are going to be masking this school year! There's like nothing in the news anymore about covid but it's spreading so much right now! (map from cdc.gov/nwss/rv/COVID19-currβ¦)

HUGE HUGE victory for Palestine today! The Jewish National Fund (JNF) is the most Zionist organization in the world and is the precursor to the settler colony of Israel. It is the focus of my doctoral research and it just had its charitable status revoked by Canada! 1/
