My second novel THE WATER CHILD is published in hardback, ebook & audiobook today. Good for fans of historical(ish) fiction, gothic mystery, and simmering tension under the continental sun. Fancy a weird tale for your summer reading? I've got you covered. 🌊⛵😈 (1/2)
Content warning for violence, and also spoilers for my first novel - I'm obsessed with these drawings inspired by #TheHouseofFootsteps! Thanks so much @AngelicAphelion, I'm truly honoured

Looking forward to this blog tour for The Water Child which kicks off next week. Not least because it's a "tour" which involves me staying at home & staring at my phone. I'd be doing that anyway!

Secondly, thank you @HarperNorthUK for my copy of #TheWaterChild by @mathewoneT
Cannot wait to take part in the @RandomTTours blog tour next month, I have never jumped onto a blog tour so quickly 😅
My earliest draft of The Water Child was much, much darker in a misguided attempt to evoke the banal horror of #CormacMcCarthy. Fortunately after some feedback I realised that isn't my style - but his influence absolutely remains in the book's DNA.
RIP Cormac McCarthy. One of my favourites, who else could write so beautifully about worlds where absolutely everything was wrong? Keep carrying the fire.

I've got my Scots Magazine book corresondent hat back on again! If you live in Scotland, are from Scotland or have written a book set in Scotland and it's being published in July, August or September this year, I'd love to hear about it... 📚📚
Had a lot of fun chatting to @JoannaCorrance & @johnlees927 about writing dark & disturbing stories last night, expertly chaired by @tiffaniangus. Thanks everyone who came and thank you #cymerafestival for the invitation!
Looking forward to this panel tonight - link to tickets below, Edinburgh people!

Missing the person you love is hard. But what if them returning was far, far worse...? Equal parts enthralling, unsettling and transporting, The Water Child has been in my veins since I first read it. A huge happy publication day to @mathewoneT
Happy publication day to my publication buddies! And of course thanks to the tireless team at @HarperNorthUK who make it all happen 💙

THE WATER CHILD by @mathewoneT is a historical fiction with a dark, haunting edge – where ghost story meets myth. Perfect for fans of Jessie Burton, Rosie Andrews and Jennifer Saint!
