We mourn the loss of children's book author Joanna Cole (Aug. 11, 1944 – July 12, 2020), who was born in Newark and raised in East Orange. "The Magic School Bus" books she wrote inspired the first fully animated series on PBS in 1994. Thank you for the zany Ms. Frizzle. #PBS50

Whether together in school or through virtual leadership and sports activities, these interactions foster meaningful friendships and positive attitudes. Ultimately, it helps cultivate a school culture free from bullying, exclusion and negative perceptions.” - Dr. Lamont O. Repollet, Commissioner of Education
