Caveats: the headline 0.03% rate is a self-reported, voluntary lower bound (95% CI ~0.01-0.07%), and within the cohort the SUD vs non-SUD difference is only marginal (95%CI for odds ratio crosses 1).

Happy birthday to Sasha Shulgin! 🫡🎂 Thank you for everything you've done! "How long will this last, this delicious feeling of being alive, of having penetrated the veil which hides beauty and the wonders of celestial vistas? It doesn’t matter, as there can be nothing but gratitude for even a glimpse of what exists for those who can become open to it." —Alexander Shulgin, Pihkal: A Chemical Love Story

End of an era and another tragic hit to an rc market in decline. The Dutch laboratory lizard labs, which had shouldered many parts of the community for almost a decade, is closing its doors indefinitely on December 31, 2024, per an official email.

"One thing I've learned in my decades of doing research on migraine and studying migraine patients is that we are losing so much creativity, so much innovation, so much vitality, because people are not able to go about their life, they're not able to go to work, they're not able to take care of their families." - @joannakempner, Associate Professor – Sociology,@RutgersU on the need for greater migraine advocacy Watch the full "Closing the Women’s Health Gap: A Spotlight on Migraine" event: thehill.com/events/past/4879… Sponsored by: @pfizer #TheHillHealth

Ok, here we go: Much of my work concerns the history and return of scientific racism. I’ve written extensively about attempts to resurrect the shuffling corpse of race science and eugenics for many years. Bigotry dressed up as biology. 1/n

Big shout out to those researchers who made their data available in PDB over the years The Chemistry Nobel Prize winners today relied on that open academic data to train their models We wouldn't have these advances if researchers hadn't made 200,000 protein structures available

Really cool series of studies on our ability to process briefly presented visual stimuli
Replying to @Renzo_Lanfranco
12/12 In sum, this innovative method allowed us to uncover the visual system's processing priorities and offers a promising alternative to masking and interocular suppression. Crucially, whenever we tested for meaningful information extraction, we found evidence of awareness.

Our reporting found dozens of injured soldiers originally weren't awarded Purple Hearts, despite appearing to qualify, because for fear of undercutting Trump's assertion that the injuries were minor. Following our report, they Army reversed course and awarded them the honor.
Dozens of US service members received the Purple Heart because of the missile attack in 2020. One soldier told CBS he had constant headaches and memory loss as a result of the TBI: “The person I was prior to a traumatic brain injury, he's gone.” cbsnews.com/news/purple-hear…
