in case it is of interest I have uploaded the drafting exercise we used in the Legislation (Honours) class at Edinburgh this year. As with previous exercises the instructions were based on a consultation for a members bill, this year on recall of MSPs. link.medium.com/vVxRZYZhlKb

If you're a law student try to take a good class on legislation and its interpretation (if one is available to you) because we live in an age of statutes and in the UK too often law schools forget this.
My 2 cents: If you're a law student, try to take classes from professors who think differently from you. In any law class, you can learn two things: The material, and how the professor thinks. For future lawyers, both are valuable. Disagreement w/ prof = 2 for the price of 1.

Just to let people know that we are now using "notes" on Substack, for short news items in between the main emailed newsletters (the sort of thing that Twitter used to be good for) open.substack.com/pub/digita… Let us know whether you find that useful or not

Let us know what you think of Eric Bush's new site rulesasconsequences.com/ Promotes "Binary Decision Diagrams", but also writes well for non-techies (with links to techie stuff), & good discussion of logic's role in legislation (& what AI can offer) #RulesAsCode #ComputationalLaw

It was a pleasure to work with Margaux on the project, and to teach her at the @InstofLawJersey . I couldn’t go to the awards event yesterday but I am glad my colleagues from the Legislative Drafting Office were there to cheer her on.
Very proud to see Margaux winning this award last night for her work on our project - see digitallegislation.substack.… and linkedin.com/posts/highlands…
