A major international study has found that streetlights aren’t the only culprit when it comes to light pollution. @uniofgalway researcher Georgia MacMillan based in @mayodarkskies joined Shane Coleman on @NTBreakfast to discuss.

#NoMowMay is over, but why not keep going with #LetItBloomJune & #HelpThemFlyJuly?
Reducing mowing throughout the summer is one of the best things you can do for pollinators
Mow less and help local, native wildflowers grow naturally.

We barked up that particular tree at @ENERGY for the last two years of the Biden Administration and hardly got the time of day from staff. The agency seemed to think that the arrival of LED solved all the problems, and they simply moved on to air conditioners and whatnot.
I know @doge probably has bigger fish to fry, but every photon of artificial light polluting our sky is technically energy wasted.
What if we could more efficiently redirect lighting only where it was needed, while also giving people back the stars?

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken action for pollinators this year
Pollinator numbers may still be in decline, but our records show that local populations are increasing where actions are being taken to help them
What we're doing is working, let's do more in 2025 🐝💚
Thrilled to officially share that Mayo Dark Sky Park at Wild Nephin National Park is proud recipient of International Dark Sky Place of the Year award from DarkSky International. With over 200 dark sky places around the world, it means a great deal to us in Mayo. #HappyNewYear – at Mayo, Ireland
We’ve been busy in the 8 years since accreditation. Whilst we have the privilege of very dark skies at the accredited National Park site, we recognise that light pollution is ever increasing and we plan to mitigate this further and eventually make Mayo a dark sky county. – at Mayo, Ireland

London folk! Does anyone what event was creating this light show at 1.23 am(!) last night? For directions, the lights were heading in a line toward the centre of town from chiswick/Hammersmith.
Or was it a Close Encounter?

Wouldn’t it be nice if this major supplier had just one dark sky friendly porch light in stock, considering its proximity to a dark sky park. Just one ☝️ #missingatrick
