🚨 Alex Pastoor speaks on Ziggo following his Timnas Indonesia exit: “119th-ranked team reaching the World Cup wasn’t realistic.” 🗣️ “It didn’t work out, and that became clear quickly. On the pitch and with the staff, we tried to make clear what was expected, but it wasn’t enough to beat teams of this caliber.” 🗣️ “The project was meant to last longer than just chasing the World Cup. When sentiment turned very negative after Jeddah, the decision was made to end it.” 🗣️ “As I understand it, the plan had three parts. First, reaching the World Cup, which as the 119th-ranked team wasn’t easy or logical. 🗣️ “Second, Vanenburg and Van Kempen would quickly bring local players into the U23 and U20 teams. Third, long term, to develop more competitive players in a country of 280 million. 🗣️ “Jordi Cruyff was appointed as advisor and Alexander Zwiers as technical director. Now everyone has left.” (via @VI_nl)
