Anyone complaining about Rails req/vCPU hasn't seen my single-threaded Node.js app eat dogshit after I accidentally made it send +100k queries to the database. Nobody cares. It all sucks and so do we. Until we don't.

Rebuilding my echo chamber on an elephant is already going better than on the back of a small bird.
Still in "toy" status right now, but I created a package for parsing a custom query language that can be used to filter data in front-end and back-end applications. github.com/mdwheele/query-la… Will do a stream at twitch.tv/mdwheele in the next few days for our Slack clone.

I feel like the neatest thing here is that we expose a simple interpreter that can filter data given to it, but we also provide an interface for grabbing the AST for a particular query. In this way, you can write your own interpreter that filters the data however you see fit!
Why is "Syntax Error: 23" code for "E_INVALID_END_TAG" WHY... POOP...
No idea how this works, but upgrading one of our apps to @tailwindcss 3.0 made it feel SO MUCH SNAPPIER with literally no changes to the project ...

Your source code is NOT a darling to behold. It is a demon to be exorcised or a monster to be destroyed. It leaches the lives of your team in terms of cognitive load. Don't defend source code and implementation. Defend value systems and ideas!

A 12-month roadmap is like a box of a dozen donuts & you can only eat 1 a month. By the time you get to 10, 11, 12 you'd really rather eat a fresh one. But no, you're in the Clean Plate Club so you choke 'em down.

Refactored a lot of custom components with @tailwindlabs headless ui components. Feels like I’ve had a small engineering team come in and rebuild the website. These components are snappier and more reliable than I could’ve ever achieved. Big ups @malfaitrobin

In a merge request today: "This was put in place because Safari doesn't support the STANDARD time input field and will send literal dumpster bats to your house that are out for blood." It's true.
Spent a bit looking at upgrading a 10k LoC Vue application from 2 to 3 (and also making the leap to Vite) and the largest blocker was... A package I wrote that doesn't support Vue 3 yet! Really great stuff. Vite is a game-changer, 4,000%.

Out of all the things work/pandemic related, the thing I miss the most is getting up from the desk, pinging a "Anybody wanna grab some coffee?" and sitting down to shoot the shit for even a few minutes.

Currently forking the Linux kernel and writing a furious tweet about how they owe me everything now. It's going to be great. ... Guys there's a fucking pandemic. Be excellent to one another. Shit. #TailwindGate
