My friends and I are doing one tonight, inspired by your post.
I love my ex! I think our journey together and our relationship now are sooooo cool. I look at us still with awe.
Recently we were laughing about that conversation from 15 years ago
“Okay, sooo not marriage…then what?”
“Oh, what if we…”
I have a feeling a this is gonna be a running bit for our whole lives.
A few months ago I hosted a cybersecurity "Ugh Day" (a group chore day) for my friends.
The format worked so well I think everyone should steal it:
1. List the accounts/devices that would be most devastating to lose… bank, email, phone, etc.
2. For each one, find its “weakest link” an attacker could use to get in.
3. Turn those into a todo list and fix them.
We found things like:
- someone was using their phone without a password. and their phone had unrestricted access to email and 2fa. meaning if they lost their phone someone could steal everything.
- someone was using as their recovery email an insecure Hotmail account made at age 10
- someone was still using as their ex lover’s email as a recovery email
So much low hanging fruit to fix!
I think a lot of people feel dread and avoidance around personal security, doing this together really helped.
I made it through an appointment with the Finanzamt today, entirely in German
Came home and asked Claude for a vibe check on everything I said
Dying laughing at how they must have perceived me
my writing process is:
1. i have an idea and let it simmer in the back of my mind for a few years
2. at some point the muse gets fed up and demands several months of my life
3. voice-transcribe all my ideas into a google doc
4. ask Claude to turn the transcription notes into an essay
5. get irrationally upset at how much I hate Claude’s essay. scrap it
6. go line-by-line, telling Claude what I actually wanted each note to say
7. copy the sentence I just typed to Claude back into my google doc
8. eventually it’s an essay
9. (sometimes) publish!
my writing process is:
1. i have an idea and let it simmer in the back of my mind for a few days or weeks
2. i sit down and try to speed-write a draft using squibler.io/dangerous-writin…
3. i copy into a google doc and edit
4. if i am dissatisfied, i set it aside and try again another time, from scratch
5. for some essays, i later give multiple drafts to claude and ask claude to make it one cohesive essay
6. i copy into a google doc and edit again
7. i put it through pangram and edit out claude-slop until i hit 100% human
8. sometimes i run it through hemingwayapp.com/ and try to simplify my sentences
9. publish!
There was one night at Treeweek where I thought…fuck it, I’m just gonna fully relax and stop inhibiting my cozy vibe.
Then every time I sat down somewhere, the people in my vicinity would almost immediately melt into a cuddle puddle.
It happened four times!
In weird places!
A staircase, a loud techno dance floor, a hallway
… Is this 🦋 soft power?
I’m playing @Prigoose’s twitter war game.
Finding it cool it how changes my behavior here
It’s like Priya encoded her approach to twitter into a game, and by playing I get to try it on without having to think too hard about it
Scootering down the canal in my favorite fall coat, with a guitar on my back feels like playing Ananta: The Video Game
I think I need a little theme song
I’m so pumped I finally found a guitar teacher I resonate with. I can literally feel myself expanding every few minutes during the hour lesson, and I leave every session deeply inspired 🤯
I’m so in awe someone could mentor me in this way.
I happy ugly-cried a little on the U8 today
