I’m going to say one of my biggest issues with TIFF this year, besides the abysmal ticketing system that somehow continues to get worse with each passing year, is the lack of multiple Press & Market screenings.
There have already been at least two films where the demand was so high that TIFF easily could have filled an entire second theater. When you have that many accredited press and market members being turned away from a screening, why aren’t secondary screenings being added?
I understand that scheduling a festival of this size is incredibly complicated, but when the demand is clearly there, adding another P&M screening for the most in-demand titles feels like an obvious solution. I genuinely don’t understand why this hasn’t happened yet.

What is HighballTV?
For people who still care who directed it. And for those who care about the platform you’re watching it on.
HighballTV is an independent streaming home for films worth seeking out: festival discoveries, cult favourites, documentaries, Canadian cinema and the movies that somehow escaped the algorithm.
Stream them. Own them digitally forever. Find something you weren’t looking for.

You bought the movie.
You should probably get to keep the movie.
At HighballTV, when you buy a digital film, it stays in your library. We don’t rotate it out. We don’t decide your purchase has expired. We don’t make you buy it again somewhere else.
A radical concept: you bought it, you own it.
And if you don’t trust the internet with your movie collection, fair.
We sell physical copies too 📀

Not at all. This isn’t a crash — it’s a correction. It needs to correct until Canadians can actually afford to buy homes to live in again. Next we need a pied-a-terre tax to keep the domestic speculators from treating condos like stocks. Go invest in something nobody lives in.
With Toronto condos crashing, is it time to scrap the foreign-buyer ban? trib.al/kOlG5wD

can we normalize putting summaries on the back of books again instead of reviews? I just genuinely want to know what the book is about before picking it up.

It’s annoying how modern movies insist on cutting back to any previous scene that gets referenced later on. Like I don’t need to see Robert Pattinson’s character trading lots with Sinon for the fifth time. I’m not a fucking goldfish. I remember. Sinners also did this way too much
