MLB already has rules requiring teams to spend 1.5x their revenue-sharing funds. MLB just doesn’t enforce them, and owners aren’t required to spend that money on the roster. Before demanding a salary cap, how about enforcing the rules already on the books?

There's already rules on the books that teams need to spend 1.5x their revenue sharing money, but MLB doesn't enforce it and also doesn't require that it's spent on the roster. Enforce the rules that already exist.
Do. not. let a Brewers-Rays/Guardians World Series matchup convince you that MLB doesn’t need a cap and floor system.

Guess I'll just keep posting this. It's not worth my time to do anything more, lol.

12 NFL teams, a salary cap league, have never won a Superbowl. 4 NFL teams have never made it to the super bowl. Only 5 MLB teams have never won a world series. Only 1 MLB team has never been to a world series.

Remember the William Contreras trade?

These kinds of sentiments are always so strange to me. What does "analytics" mean in this context? It's just information. You can do a ton of different things with it.
Replying to @MarinersONTap
If rumors are true and Dan was openly refusing to follow analytics when directed to by the front office, then he needs to go. If they win 6 of those 1 run losses they win the division.

With Elly De La Cruz potentially on the market and the Mariners with Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan as top prospects, it would be criminal for them to not try and jump on a trade.

Zero shot they were in as bad of a position as the White Sox and look what they've done. Way too many excuses for bad le as sership and culture in the Mariners fan base.
The 2 of 11 argument is so disingenuous. Basically had no shot the first 5. Had to clean up Jacks mess with no farm or money for 3 years, wasn’t allowed to sell. Then rebuild for 2 years. We can talk about if that’s good enough, but let’s be honest about the starting situation

New: If you saw our recent investigation on baseball, you may have wondered: Why is ProPublica, with its serious-sounding mission of accountability and its focus on abuses of power, reporting on sports? The answer would be: Exactly. propub.li/4jbD4Nr

This is why MLB owners want a cap. They want cost certainty so they can sell to private equity firms at insane valuations. We are watching the abandoning ship of the one man owner and the rise of private equity sports conglomerates.

Not to Feliciano personally, but to the PE firm Feliciano co-founded. The firm already had an ownership stake in Chelsea.

I too am fed up with how unfair small market owners are to their fans
Replying to @BizballMaury
I used to attend 15-20 games a year. I got so fed up with how unfair baseball is to small market fans that I now attend 2-3 games a year. I know others who feel the same way and behave the same way. MLBPA is too stupid to understand this.

Fantastic reporting
When David Ortiz used his influence to help block reforms that would rein in lenders’ ability to prey on baseball families, it was unknown outside of the Dominican Republic that the Hall of Famer had a financial interest in keeping the system broken. propublica.org/article/how-d…

I'm sorry y'all, I just don't see the Kade Anderson hype. Who has a 93mph fastball and is an ace at the big league level?

Is there any actual reason that Jerry Dipoto should keep his job? This season is an absolute joke.

Dude looks like the Japanese Tim Lincecum
This is Kaima Taira. He is 5-foot-8, 220 pounds and throws up to 100 mph. He also might be the best starting pitcher available this winter outside of Tarik Skubal. More on him, Teruaki Sato (the class’ best hitter) and Hiromi Itoh: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/4988…
