My interview re: The Crisis Companion on one of my favorite comic book podcasts, Dollar Bin Bandits: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas… @DBBandits @TwoMorrows_News

I was sitting here typing up the comic creator panels for this year's show, and there was one panel and a guest I was holding off on as I was waiting to hear how he was doing. But sadly, he will not be here. It was a returning guest. The former Marvel Editor-In-Chief, Jim Shooter, who has just passed away at age 73. Mr. Shooter was a guest of TERRIFICON twice, and was a fan favorite. Infact, he was scheduled to be at this August's show, but I was holding off on the announcement because I knew he was not well. I saw Jim last April, and he said he was looking forward to seeing the folks in Connecticut again. During his time as Editor -In-Chief at Marvel, in the late 70s and early 80s, is when I was deep into reading everything they printed. From Star Wars to the Hulk Magazine, Secret Wars to Daredevil, Thor to X-Men, Rom to Micronauts, it was truly a golden age. When I sat to chat with Mr. Shooter it was an amazing history lesson of the House of Ideas. I remember walking to the Expo Center to open up the doors for TERRRIFICON and I saw Mr. Shooter standing in line waiting for breakfast. I walked up to the cashier who I knew, and yelled over to him and asked what he wanted. The clerk handed me the yogurt, fruit plate and juice, no charge, I walked it over to him and said it was the least I could do for all the great books Marvel put out back then. There was another comic creator in line, who saw what I did and said, "hey, cut the line for me and get me something too!" I replied, "you didn't write "Secret Wars"! Jim cracked up. I saw him at a table at a New York con a few years ago, he stopped me, shook my hand and told the folks with him that story, laughing as he told it. I was surprised he brought it up. I said, it was nothing, he said, no it meant a lot. I still don't know what was the big deal, but I am glad that small gesture made him happy. I will definitely, have a panel for Mr. Shooter this year, a memorial with many of his colleagues and fans reminiscing about his "marvelous" work. Rest in peace, Mr. Shooter. #jimshooter
