🆕🆓🔓#apraxia While #CAS is largely framed as a MOTOR speech disorder due to movement planning or programming deficits, #LANGUAGE & #LITERACY impairments occur in >90% of individuals. Neuroimaging shows perturbation of linguistic AND motor pathways. nature.com/articles/s41380-0…

IMPORTANT: "Children with low intelligibility and poor stimulability should be prioritized for speech-language pathology services given that their speech errors are less likely to resolve naturally." @TheInformedSLP @ASHAJournals @SpeechPathAus Details: pubs.asha.org/doi/10.1044/20…
How exciting. @TheInformedSLP has reviewed: To, McLeod, Sam, & Law (2022). Predicting which children will normalize without intervention for speech sound disorders. Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research @ASHAJournals @SpeechPathAus @RCSLT doi.org/10.1044/2022_JSLHR-2…

Love this! We started noticing this too in our research!
Definitely noticed in clin practice that increase in accuracy may not be the first change I see when treating #ChildhoodApraxiaOfSpeech, but reduction of inconsistency may be significant/noticeable! #SPAConf @mgomez086

Outcome measures for #ChildhoodApraxiaOfSpeech treatment should include inconsistency measures - @mgomez086 #SPAConf
