I’m sick of nearly getting run over outside @thewomens. Happened again today. I’ve tried the proper channels before without success, so now I’m trying Twitter.
Pedestrians walking along Flemington Road see this
… Meanwhile drivers—no doubt often tired, stressed and otherwise distracted—see this.
There is a small sign, but it’s in shadow. And because the approach is a ramp up, and the zebra crossing markings are pretty dirty, I suspect many drivers don’t notice it.
@thewomens Just realised the vital second tweet wasn’t part of a thread. Basically shows how the single sign for drivers requires illumination (but also should be changed to be clear that drivers MUST give way to pedestrians, rather than just ‘look out’ for them).

PM being called sexist, but he'll often give a job to a woman when it really should have gone to a man. Like when he gave Bridget McKenzie the job of resigning over #sportsrorts.
For all the talk of how unfair the electoral college system is, the 2016 result (Clinton 48%–46% Trump) wasn’t dramatically different to the 1998 Australian Federal election. Labor won 51%–49% of the (2PP) popular vote, but only 67 of the 147 ‘electoral colleges’ (seats).

He’s got the same voice as every random South Park character
We are outside the Clark County Election Center where Registrar of Voters is addressing the ballots that still have to be counted. Man walked up and started yelling. @8NewsNow

In the same fortnight The Australian published a racist cartoon, we found out $10 million given to Foxtel came from COVID relief funds, and the Herald Sun's horny security guard story was contradicted. Just need an op-ed about 'immigrant dole bloggers' and we've got Murdoch bingo

I'm a university lecturer. @DanTehanWannon, you've submitted a media release that has a huge typo - dated 2019 instead of 2020. Should I mark you down for that error? Should I fail you? Do you deserve another chance? Should you now forfeit your salary, since you failed the task?

I'm deeply troubled by the arrest of publisher Julian Assange for revealing accurate but embarrassing information about the U.S. government.
I’m deeply troubled by reports of the arrest of @JimmyLaiApple under Hong Kong’s draconian National Security Law. Further proof that the CCP has eviscerated Hong Kong’s freedoms and eroded the rights of its people.

I was taking care of a patient the other day who was very seriously injured. And I stepped out to talk to his family briefly and give them an update. For context, he was Black. I told them what was going on quickly and asked if they had any questions. And this is what they said.
Clever way of introducing the idea of defunding the police to a sceptical audience.

Not that it matters because the resort is Covid-closed, but Falls Creek in Victoria is today’s Aussie (lack of) snow pic. August 1. Most storms have missed VIC this season. Also max temps were 1.3 above longterm average in July and 0.3 on June. Not good.

Would all those who know exactly what is going to happen next please tell us now instead of telling us in six weeks that they knew this would happen six weeks ago?
