Safe and secure courthouses are essential to a strong justice system. That’s why Alberta’s government is investing $6 million in security upgrades at 10 courthouses across the province to better protect Albertans, court staff and everyone who relies on our justice system. We’re making sure Alberta’s courthouses have the security measures they need to serve Albertans safely and effectively.

Join me live on CTV, Global, CityNews, Facebook, X or YouTube at 6:45pm— as we go through the referendum results, what they mean for this province, and what comes next.

Today, Albertans have an opportunity to make one of the most important decisions in our province’s history. I love Alberta. I love Canada. And I firmly believe that our brightest future lies not in dividing our country, but in strengthening it. We can stand proudly and unapologetically for Alberta, defend our provincial rights, and demand a better future for our children, while remaining part of the country that generations before us worked so hard to build. Canada is worth fighting for. Our unity is worth preserving. And the bonds that bring us together are far greater than the differences that divide us. Today, I ask you to get out and vote for Option 1. Let us choose hope over division, unity over separation, and a future in which Alberta continues to lead as a strong and proud province within a united Canada. A strong Alberta. A united Canada. A country worth saving 🇨🇦
Today you have a ballot in front of you. “Yes to the Nine” means Alberta gets a real say over our own immigration, so growth matches the housing, schools and hospitals we have to support it. It means temporary programs contribute to the services they use. It means constitutional reforms that protect this province's authority no matter who sits in Ottawa. Vote today. ✅ Vote for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada. ✅ Vote yes to the nine.

Thirty years ago, a group of dedicated parents and community leaders came together to establish Almadina Language Charter Academy, with a vision of giving children the support and opportunities they needed to succeed. Despite the challenges of its early years, the school found a strong advocate in my father, Moe Amery, who worked tirelessly with its founders, board members, and successive Education Ministers to protect its charter and secure its future. Today, Almadina serves nearly 1,400 students. During my time as MLA for Calgary-Cross, we’ve proudly continued that work, securing additional funding to expand the school’s capacity and a grant to help build a new high school for future generations. Today, I had the extraordinary honour of seeing Almadina’s Mountain View campus renamed Moe Amery School. To the Board and the entire Almadina community, thank you for this deeply humbling and heartwarming tribute to my father’s legacy. This school began with a community’s dream. My father helped protect that dream. And today, we have the privilege of carrying it forward. Dad, I know you would be proud of how far we’ve come and what lies ahead. رحمة الله عليك يا أبي

Alberta is mourning alongside the Canadian Armed Forces and the families, friends and colleagues of those affected by the tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright yesterday. The loss of life and injuries are heartbreaking. On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and wish those who have been injured a full recovery. Our thoughts are also with the military personnel, families and colleagues facing uncertainty and grief during this incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful to the first responders, paramedics, physicians, nurses and hospital teams across Alberta who have mobilized to provide care to those injured. Albertans should all be incredibly proud of their frontline health care workers and our acute care system that has managed this mass casualty event. We’re also thankful to our neighbours in Saskatchewan who did not hesitate to support our response with additional air ambulance capacity, and to other provinces who have reached out offering their support and condolences. I will be traveling to Edmonton today to meet with provincial ministers and federal officials. The Government of Alberta continues to work closely with the federal government and local authorities. We have convened our Emergency Management Cabinet Coordination Committee and the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (PECC) has been activated to a level 3. As a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives and in solidarity with the military community and their families, flags at provincial government buildings across Alberta will be lowered to half-mast. In the days ahead, our thoughts will remain with everyone affected by this tragedy. Alberta stands with the Canadian Armed Forces, the people of Wainwright and all those grieving during this difficult time.

Alberta closed the books on 2025-26 with a $2.2 billion surplus and the Heritage Savings Trust Fund finished the year at a record high of more than $32 billion. We delivered that surplus in the same year we cut personal income taxes with a new 8% bracket, the lowest in the country. That put up to $750 back in the pocket of every Albertan and up to $1,500 back with the average family. The Heritage Fund is on track to reach $35 billion in 2027 and $250 billion by 2050. Every dollar of income stays in and compounds. That is a promise to Albertans who come next and keeping it is one of the most important things this government will ever do.

I am deeply saddened by today's tragic bus collision in Calgary. My sincere condolences go to the families grieving the loss of loved ones, and I am thinking of all those who were injured and impacted by this devastating event. Advance polls are open until Saturday. Make sure to get out your vote in the referendum. I’ll be voting for Option 1 to remain in Canada on question 10. I’m voting Option 1 because standing up for Alberta and refusing to back down is working. The emissions cap is gone. C-69 no longer applies to our energy projects. Pacific Link is moving forward. We are getting results and we need to keep going. And on questions 1 through 9, I’m voting YES. Alberta needs more authority to make decisions in our own interests, support more sustainable immigration and protect the social services Albertans rely on. We are pleased the Alberta Court of Appeal has once again ruled that the Impact Assessment Act remains unconstitutional. After the Supreme Court of Canada concluded that the Impact Assessment Act was largely unconstitutional in 2023, the federal government made minor amendments to the Act. In November 2024, Alberta referred the constitutionality of the amended Impact Assessment Act to the Court of Appeal of Alberta. Today, the Alberta Court of Appeal ruled that the Impact Assessment Act remains unconstitutional. This is a win for Albertans, and for all Canadians who want a strong economy powered by the responsible development of natural resources. Our focus remains on Alberta’s future as a world-leading energy superpower and advocating for our jurisdiction over our natural resources to be respected. Alberta is calling on the federal government to accept the court decision and work with Alberta to repair this flawed law so it no longer undermines Canada’s ability to build and grow our economy.
Yet another big win for Alberta. The Alberta Court of Appeal just ruled that C-69 remains largely unconstitutional. I’m calling on the Federal Government to accept this ruling, refrain from yet another appeal, and immediately work with Alberta and the other provinces to clean up this flawed Trudeau-era legislation once and for all so it no longer inhibits economic development in our country.

The NDP claims to care about protecting Albertans’ privacy, yet last week it went to court to challenge measures designed to protect their personal voter information. Yesterday, the court rejected the NDP’s arguments and confirmed our authority to act. The NDP’s court application has been exposed for what it always was: a partisan attempt to score political points at the expense of protecting Albertans’ personal information. Their position was hypocritical from the start. They cannot claim to stand for privacy one day and then fight voter privacy protections in court the next. Following the alleged unauthorized disclosure of the list of electors, Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer publicly called for stronger safeguards. Our government responded with temporary protections to suspend distribution of the voters list while investigations continued and legislative changes were made. Instead of supporting these protections, the NDP challenged them in court, opposing measures designed to protect Albertans’ personal information and preserve confidence in our democratic processes. As the Chief Electoral Officer warned the court, the NDP’s demands would have opened the door to releasing detailed voter information to other registered political parties, even those under investigation. Alberta’s government acted to protect Albertans and the NDP acted for themselves. The NDP owes Albertans an explanation: why did it fight these privacy protections, and why did it believe broader access to sensitive voter information was justified while investigations were ongoing? Our government will continue strengthening protections for Albertans’ personal information. Legislative changes are coming to strengthen safeguards around voter information, and we hope the NDP will finally put the interests of Albertans ahead of their political interests and support those reforms. unitedconservativecaucus.ca/…

I would like to congratulate Justice Thomas Rothwell on his appointment to the Court of Appeal of Alberta and to Justice Malcolm Lavoie on his appointment to the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta. Both individuals bring significant legal experience, a deep understanding of our province and a strong record of service to Alberta’s justice system. Justice Thomas Rothwell served as law clerk to the Honourable Mr. Justice J.C. Major at the Supreme Court of Canada and was the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Legal Services Division at Alberta Justice prior to his appointment to the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta in 2020. Justice Malcom Lavoie was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General of Alberta in 2024. He has argued several cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. Alberta’s government welcomes the federal government’s willingness to meaningfully collaborate on these judicial appointments. This constructive approach represents an important step forward for provincial involvement in future appointments to Alberta’s superior courts. The highest levels of Alberta’s justice system should reflect Albertans and the province they serve. We maintain that greater provincial involvement would strengthen public confidence in the administration of justice. Our government looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the federal government while hearing from Albertans about the future of judicial appointments in our province.

Protecting vulnerable Albertans has always been our priority. Alberta led the way by introducing protections for medical assistance in dying and our government is pleased to see the federal government adopt the same common-sense approach to prohibit MAID for those whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.
A huge win for Alberta, vulnerable Albertans and their families. And yet another sign our country is getting back on track after the Trudeau years. Alberta’s UCP government was proud to pass legislation last spring that prohibited MAID for individuals whose sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness. We’re pleased to see the federal government has announced they will be following our lead and won’t be moving ahead with their planned expansion of MAID to those whose sole underlying condition is mental illness. This is the common sense approach we’ve been calling for since the beginning. Well done Alberta! And kudos to the Feds for changing direction.

Today is a significant victory for Alberta’s and Canada’s energy future. The listing of Pacific Link as a project of national interest under the Building Canada Act takes an important step toward strengthening our economy, enhancing energy security and connecting Canadian energy to growing global markets. Pacific Link will significantly grow Canada’s GDP, generating more than $20 billion per year when operational. Alberta's government will continue working with Indigenous communities, industry partners and the federal government to move Pacific Link forward and turn this extraordinary opportunity into lasting prosperity for generations to come.

Illegal dumping isn't a victimless crime. It damages our environment, threatens communities and leaves taxpayers footing the bill.   In Calgary alone, about 30,000 complaints were reported last year. That's why we're introducing tougher penalties, including significantly higher fines and potential jail time to hold offenders accountable. New legislation will: - Increase fines for individuals from a maximum of $50,000 to a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $100,000. - Introduce jail terms for individuals, with a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of six months. - Increase fines for corporations from a maximum of $500,000 to a minimum of $100,000 and a maximum of $1 million. These changes will strengthen responsible waste disposal, hold offenders accountable and ensure those who illegally dump waste face the consequences of their actions.
