.@thisisUIC researchers (@mictomi) modeled how rainfall extremes might change in African subregions due to climate change.
By 2099, extreme rainfall that historically occurred once every 50 years are projected to recur about every 5-10 years.

Our new paper reviews the state of urban resilience to climate extremes. The takeaway? We can't just "engineer" our way out of this. It takes a mix of infrastructure, governance, and equity. link.springer.com/article/10…
My research group will be presenting at the 106th AMS Annual Meeting in Houston. If you are at #AMS2026, please stop by!
I will also co-chair the 'African Climate Change Variability I' session with Edward K Vizy. Please join us!

New publication alert from @AeroClimate
Our paper "Fallowed agricultural lands dominate anthropogenic dust sources in California" has just been published with Springer Nature in Communications Earth & Environment.
Thrilled to announce the release of our new book "Aerosols and Precipitation over Africa: Progress, Challenges, and Prospects," which I had the pleasure of co-editing with @AeroClimate

It's SNOWING in parts of the Midwest and Northeast right now! How nice! That changes nothing about the trajectory of winters in those regions, which is toward less reliable snowpack and much, much more rain. theatlantic.com/science/arch…
Delighted to share our recent paper on 'Robust future intensification of winter precipitation over the United States'
