Business Modelling | #TechnologyEntrepreneurshipSeed workshop! @ancelochino takes participants through business modelling, focusing on lean principles to build viable, customer-centered businesses, minimize waste, and drive continuous improvement. The Five Core Principles of Lean Business Modelling. • Define Value: Focus on what customers genuinely need and are willing to pay for. • Map the Value Stream: Identify every step in delivering value and eliminate activities that do not add value. • Create Flow: Streamline processes to minimize delays and bottlenecks. • Establish Pull: Align production and resources with actual customer demand. • Pursue Perfection: Continuously improve processes, quality, and efficiency. He also emphasized key considerations when building a Lean Canvas, including: • Identifying target customers and their pain points. • Defining the problem, solution, and value proposition. • Developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to test ideas. • Testing assumptions, measuring results, and refining solutions using customer feedback. The goal is to help participants build businesses grounded in customer insights, validated assumptions, and sustainable value creation. #InnovateWithUs

Customer & Market Analysis in Focus | #TechnologyEntrepreneurshipSeed Workshop! @AmbroseNigi takes participants through Customer and Market Analysis, emphasizing the importance of validating customer needs and market demand before investing time and resources in developing a solution. The session explores four critical questions every entrepreneur should ask: ▸Who? Identify the priority customer segment. ▸What? Understand the real problem and its urgency. ▸Current Alternatives? Examine existing alternatives, competitors, and workarounds customers use. ▸Willingness to adopt? Test whether customers are willing to adopt and commit to the proposed solution. Participants are also exploring key principles of market validation: • Validate the customer, not just the idea. A promising solution does not automatically translate into a viable market. Customers adopt solutions because they address real needs, not simply because the technology exists. • Let validation inform decisions. Customer insights should shape who you serve, the problem you address, the solution you develop, your pricing, and the channels you use to reach customers. • Learn from contradictory evidence. Findings that challenge your assumptions are valuable, helping you refine your approach and avoid investing time and resources in solutions the market may not need. The goal is to help participants build solutions grounded in customer evidence, genuine market demand, and a clearer path to adoption. #InmovateWithUs

The Sub-Regional Hubs Support Program continues @MMU_Uganda, where the @miic_ug team is conducting a three-day institutional readiness and capacity-building engagement with the aim to assess the university’s readiness to host, govern, and sustain an innovation and incubation hub, and to develop a prioritised roadmap to guide institutional planning, strengthen capacity, and support the hub’s operationalisation. As part of the engagement, @CollinsMugadya, Pre-incubations Programs Officer at MIIC led a hands-on training session to equip lecturers and staff with practical innovation skills, including ideathon facilitation, problem and solution tree analysis, value proposition design, pitching, prototyping basics, and role assignment. The session culminated in a mock ideathon, giving staff an opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills. This initiative is implemented by @miic_ug in partnership with @mofpedU. #InnovateWithUs

Customer Development in Focus | #GraduateInnovationProgram 2.0 @AmbroseNigi is guiding participating teams through a session on Customer Development, helping them assess whether their ideas address real customer needs and have the potential to gain market acceptance. The session explores four key questions: • Who? Identifying the priority customer segments most affected by the problem. • What? Understanding the problem, its urgency, and why it matters to the target customers. • Existing Alternatives? Examining how customers currently address the problem and identifying competing solutions. • Solution Validation? Exploring how to test proposed solutions, assess customer willingness to adopt them, and establish evidence of interest and commitment. This is important because understanding customers helps teams validate their assumptions early, reduce the risk of developing solutions that people may not need, and build products that respond to real market demand. #InnovateWithUs

Happening Now: #GraduateInnovationProgram 2.0 – Workshop 2! Turning ideas into solutions requires more than identifying a problem. It means understanding the people experiencing it and testing whether a proposed solution meets their needs. Today, the participating teams are taking the next step in the #GraduateInnovationProgram 2.0 through practical sessions on Customer Development and Introduction to Prototyping. The workshop is focusing on helping teams to: • Understand their customers: Identify target customers and priority segments, explore their needs, pains and gains, and develop a customer validation mindset grounded in evidence of demand. • Translate insights into solutions: Learn the purpose of prototyping, embrace Minimum Viable Product (MVP) thinking, and turn customer insights into solutions that can be tested. • Test, demonstrate and improve: Present prototype concepts, receive feedback, and identify opportunities to refine their solutions based on what they learn. Through this series of workshops, MIIC continues to support participating teams on their journey towards developing prototypes and solutions that address real-world challenges. #InnovateWithUs

Ongoing Activity: Defining the Problem | #TechnologyEntrepreneurshipSeed workshop! Led by @nathangudoi, Sustainability and Inclusion Associate @miic_ug, participants are engaging with the Problem Statement Canvas, a practical tool that helps entrepreneurs clearly define the problems they seek to solve before exploring potential solutions. The activity guides participants through key questions: ▸Context: When and under what circumstances does the problem arise? ▸Problem: What exactly is the problem? ▸Existing Alternatives: What are customers currently doing to address the problem? ▸Customers: Who experiences this problem most often? ▸Emotional Impact: How does the problem affect customers emotionally? ▸Measurable Impact: What tangible effects does the problem have? ▸Gaps in Existing Alternatives: What are the limitations or shortcomings of the current solutions? By working through these questions, participants are learning to examine problems from the customer's perspective, identify gaps in existing solutions, and build a clear foundation for developing relevant, user-centered innovations. #InnovateWithUs
