E-2 has achieved steady expander cycle mode.
In this test video, 30 seconds of expander cycle mode are demonstrated on the tail end of an 80-second test fire that began in Ox-Rich Staged Combustion (ORSC) mode. In expander mode, thrust was reduced from 23,000 lbf to 6,500 lbf, corresponding to a 28% throttle setting.
To our knowledge E-2 is the first kerolox rocket engine to demonstrate a transition from ORSC to expander cycle operation on the same hardware during a test fire, thanks to our LOX cooled combustion chamber. This low throttle capability could be useful for landing burns by reducing thrust to weight ratio and providing greater flexibility to correct deviations from the planned landing trajectory.
Putting on my tinfoil hat here but I suspect Gen Z’s aversion to having children has left a lot of people without an outlet for their parental instincts so instead they infantilize objects and celebrities, which is why many fandoms are batshit insane these days

When slowing down makes you faster...(& smoother...)
ADB (Autonomous Decentralized Bearing) is a patented technology developed by Sosuke Kawashima (Coo Space Co., Ltd.)
By introducing a small indent into the outer race of a deep groove ball bearing, the balls become self distributing & non-contacting without the need of a cage.
Translation: the balls don't bump into one another so no cage is required, which then means sliding friction is virtually eliminated, energy consumption is reduced by over 90%, and no lubrication is necessary.
That precise indentation I mentioned slightly decelerates and then accelerates each ball back to full speed as it passes over it. A small gap is thus created between the balls due to this change in speed. Any incidental contact between the balls acts as a restorative force, effectively transferring momentum between them and ensuring uniform spacing naturally.
Pretty cool stuff (and so very simple) in other words.
This technology is currently touted as being applied in deep sea & competition skate/bike/wheelchair cases, but seems like a prime candidate for any super low friction, demanding environment, and/or long life applications.

Everything is fake. Except one thing. One thing is real. Your neighbor's nutrient-dense organs. Go. Eat them. Now.

this is a fod awareness shop. we are aware of the fod in the prop tanks, we merely choose to not act on it

remember how i was telling you alienation from labor, materials, how things are made in a purely service economy swirling with fake images would make people question even recently built objects, yeah:
Golden gate bridge.
Main cable weighs 3100 pounds per foot.
How could they have possibly handled that?
Total length of galvanized steel wire used in both main cables is 80,000 mi (129,000 km).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Golden Gate Bridge main cables were spun in place wire-by-wire from thin strands over catwalks, not lifted or handled as complete heavy units. The cited specs match official bridge records.
