Our civic responsibilities do not end with us. They shape the future of our communities. As one participant at Minority Watch’s step-down training put it, we must take them seriously, for our sake and for the safe of queer people yet unborn.

Last weekend, our Civic Education Peer Facilitators engaged another set of community members on citizenship, rights, responsibilities, and the importance of democratic participation.
At Minority Watch, we believe that an informed citizenry is essential to a thriving democracy.
Through these step-down trainings, we are expanding access to civic knowledge and encouraging more people to understand and play their part in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.

Last weekend, one of our newly trained Civic Education Peer Facilitators took the lessons from our workshop back to their community, leading a supervised step-down training to inspire more people to participate in the national and local democratic process.
At Minority Watch, we believe civic education should go beyond the training room. It should reach communities, equip citizens with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, and inspire them to take an active role in decisions that shape their lives.
Democracy works better when more people understand their place in it.
