the widespread distaste for non-hockey AUs amongst hr fans is sooo wild to me given most of y’all openly say you don’t care about hockey in the first place

with how curated and specific you have to be on ao3 to find fics, it always surprises me when people just accidentally stumble upon the worst type of ragebait fics clearly written by dungeon dwellers. and now it's everybody's problem when it could just be ignored into oblivion.
y’all we had this discourse in like dec/jan where those of us who write these fics pointed out that shane’s autism and personal drive make it narratively compelling to see him go all in on other professions and that it is in most cases not a malicious or discriminatory choice
i’m literally asian and a former elite athlete, and still had ppl tell me that giving him an injury was a feminizing racist projection on my part 😭 i know this DOES happen in the worst cases (and my shanes always have a hockey interest/history regardless) but let’s take a breath
outlining some hollanova but realized a few bullet points in that i was def just reheating a quinn/rachel glee fic i once posted to lj lmao

i have always been intrigued by people who can author works jointly… like it must be cool to really gel with someone creatively like that but also oh my god i am such a control freak about my writing i cannot imagine
the general culture around fic writing now is so ass but also i’m having a great time writing in spite of that and everyone who reads my fics is like unbelievably nice and supportive. thank u for hanging out on my very chill island where we do creative stuff and smile
are you guys gonna bully me if i say i kinda ironically fuck with this lmao
