So much of my boxing feed is filled with people arguing about who sold more tickets, who brought in more fans, who deserves more credit.
For Katie’s final fight, over 80,000 tickets sold in less than 20 minutes.
Not once did Katie brag about it.
She never made it about herself. Instead, she spent her time thanking the people who supported her and expressing how grateful she was for everyone who came along for the journey.
There’s a lesson there for young fighters.
You don’t need to constantly tell people how important you are. You don’t need to remind everyone what you’ve accomplished or how many tickets you’ve sold.
Work hard. Treat people well. Stay humble. Appreciate those who support you.
Give people a reason to root for you.
Katie did that for her entire career. And 83,000 people showing up to say goodbye speaks for itself.

Two of the greatest players of modern-day hurling, perhaps of all time, Nickie Quaid and Cian Lynch embrace after the final whistle signalled Limerick’s historic All Ireland Hurling Final victory at Croke Park on August 19th, 2018.

Falling Slowly
I'm heartbroken to hear of the passing of Glen Hansard. His music has been the soundtrack to my life for as long as I can remember.
This was one of the very first pieces I shared here during the Covid pandemic. I remember how nervous I felt posting it. Not long afterwards, I received a message from Glen himself telling me he loved my version. Those few kind words, coming from an artist I admired so deeply, meant more than I can say. They gave me the confidence to keep sharing my music, and they played a significant part in the path that followed.
So many evenings were spent lying on the floor of my cottage beside the fire with my dog Nisha, listening to Glen's songs. I still can't quite believe he's gone.
This is Falling Slowly from the film Once. Glen and his co-star, Markéta Irglová, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008.
The world feels quieter today. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and to everyone whose life was touched by his music. I'll be listening to his songs for the rest of my life.

Now ESB. Up to 14% price hike for public charging starting tomorrow.
Also: ESB now makes it more expensive to pay using normal contactless.
Price of pay-as-you-go EV public fast charging now exceeds petrol/diesel at same filling stations
independent.ie/business/esb-…
Cost of public charging for EVs going up.
Ionity, one of the biggest chains, will now charge a top rate of 85c per kWh, making it more expensive than petrol/diesel. (ESB is way cheaper btw)
3rd highest cost in EU, Ionity blames gas and general issues here

To clarify for friends of Ireland:
Manna is successful *because* of the strong regulatory environment and hugely supportive state bodies like enterprise Ireland, IAA and Airnav. Our Government and its branches have always been good to us. I thank them all.
We are not ending operations in Ireland by choice. We simply don't have the planning regulations we need to be able to scale here, and so we must deploy operational growth capital where we can : the USA
We are keeping and growing our R&D, manufacturing, flight testing, operations and regulatory functions in Glasnevin and Offaly.
Certain disingenuous commentators with an agenda are trying to make this about Manna leaving Ireland. Shame on them.
We are not leaving Ireland. If I was starting again, I would build the company in Ireland again. We will proudly fly our Irish-designed and manufactured electric autonomous aircraft all over the world.

My graphic shows all entire homes listed on Airbnb in An Daingean (Dingle), which had a population of 1,671 in the 2022 Census, in County Kerry, Ireland. It’s no wonder seasonal workers in Dingle, including waiters, bar staff, chefs, and others, can’t find places to stay: short-term lets, including Airbnb landlords and holiday-home owners, are forcing native speakers out of Gaeltacht areas.
