Trump officials say there's a 90% chance of strikes on Iran. He can’t without Congress. @RepThomasMassie & I have a War Powers Resolution to debate & vote on war before putting U.S. troops in harm’s way. I will make a motion to discharge to force a vote on it next week.
News: @RoKhanna will force a vote on his bipartisan war powers resolution on Iran *next week* with @RepThomasMassie, he tells me. Comes amid heavy U.S. military buildup in the region.

This is similar to what the US Government under Bush 41 did in Panama in 1989: invade and remove former Manuel Noriega from power, then brought him to the US to stand trial on drug trafficking. What were all the great benefits to Americans and the world from that?
Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York. Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States. They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts. On behalf of the entire U.S. DOJ, I would like to thank President Trump for having the courage to demand accountability on behalf of the American People, and a huge thank you to our brave military who conducted the incredible and highly successful mission to capture these two alleged international narco traffickers.

The Big Not-So-Beautiful Bill has officially passed both chambers. Despite a few conservative provisions, it explodes the deficit in the near term. This is Washington's MO: short-term politicking over long-term sustainability.

Free Speech for everyone. If it’s not for everyone then you’re not for free speech. It’s for speech you hate. Speech you like doesn’t need protection. Good on @SusanSarandon

One of those times where you absolutely have to watch the full meeting and not just the highlights, otherwise you’ll be lost. Love him or hate him, Trump started the meeting by praising Ukraine. Before Zelensky turned to him, Vance started by saying Russia “destroyed” Ukraine. Zelensky decided to turn the meeting into a public spat. Maybe you think he was right to go on offense, but he was absolutely not ambushed.
The absolute arrogance of this man to come hat in hand to OUR country, disrespect our elected leaders with complete lies, all while being ENTIRELY reliant on us for his literal survival

The Fourth Amendment isn’t concerned with what’s “practical” for the state; it’s a limit on government—a purposeful burden—to protect the rights of the people.

. @maddow is lying about the @gbdeclaration. It advocated for focused protection of the elderly and vulnerable. It's the lockdown strategy she espoused that led to the 'culling' of children, of the poor, and the vulnerable. Has she ever heard of Sweden?
NEW: Rachel Maddow drives more viewers away from MSNBC with her defense of COVID lockdowns and forced vaccination. “To lead the National Institute of Health, Trump's top candidate [Dr. Jay Bhattacharya] endorsed ‘herd immunity’ as the best way to address the COVID pandemic. Just a fancy way of saying, ‘Let's get everybody sick and see what happens. Cull the weak, cull the elderly.’” On a related note, in March 2021, Maddow declared, “We now know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus STOPS with every vaccinated person... The virus does infect them. The virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else..” I can’t believe she’s actually doubling down on this with her record.

The covid pandemic has unmasked a profound misalignment of US healthcare institutions with health. For 3 years, US medical leaders were obsessed with forcing children to wear rags over their faces, isolate from one another, and get serial injections of novel nucleic acid sequences encased in lipid nanoparticles for their “health” – while paying almost no attention to the real, interlocking threats to their health: junk food, obesity, addiction to screens, drugs, mental illness, lack of exercise. Agree with @CaseyMeansMD @calleymeans @MartyMakary that a fundamental change in thinking about “health” in the US is urgently needed.
I highly encourage everyone to watch this incredible interview to truly understand American health care. Diseases are ⬆️ rapidly causing widespread suffering--more meds are not the answer. It's time to talk root causes @CaseyMeansMD @calleymeans @joerogan youtu.be/G0lTyhvOeJs?si=IuHx…

Tim Walz failed the fundamental test for understanding free speech by reiterating his claim that free speech doesn't include "hate speech."

It's misinformation for Tim Walz to say the legal standard for harmful speech is that a person cannot yell fire in a crowded theater. This is not the law. See below for a brief explanation. But thankfully, the First Amendment does not allow the government to censor Tim Walz or punish him for this misinformation—even though he has said the First Amendment doesn't protect misinformation, which is also misinformation about the law. Brandenburg v. Ohio has been the law in this area (incitement / advocacy of illegality) since that case was decided in 1969. Brandenburg replaced the clear and present danger test and established the standard for when speech advocating for illegal acts (also called incitement of illegality or harm) may be punished. It is a stringent standard called the "incitement test." And the yelling-fire-in-a-crowded-theater line wasn't even a legal standard before the decision in Brandenburg: It was dicta when it appeared in Schenck v. United States (1919). Dicta means it wasn't even binding precedent in that case as it was not necessary to resolve the case. The Schenck case didn't involve fires or yelling at all but instead was a case about a person convicted for handing out leaflets, which ironically didn't pose a clear and present danger of imminent harm. In short, just remember, the "yelling-fire-in-a crowded-theater" line is not the law and never has been. It's just a catchy saying. And the clear-and-present danger test is also not the law even though it was the law for a few decades. Finally, if someone you know thinks the "yelling fire" line is the law, have some fun asking questions showing why it's a foolish, untenable standard before telling them it never was the law. Examples: what if a person needed to shout "fire" falsely to clear everyone out of a theater for purposes of an emergency, to protect people from another more serious risk of some external harm? What if an actor had to yell "fire" as part of an act in a play? What if a person yelled it falsely but was mistaken? @DrJBhattacharya @houmanhemmati @shellenberger
