// there are moments when breakthroughs shape entire markets and the way we work with technology
we've seen similar inflection points from the birth of the Internet to the conception of LLMs and then autonomous agents
> and I believe we're witnessing a pivotal one here
I've had the privilege of knowing @contextkingceo living together at the @mission__ctrl hacker house.
very few founders think this deeply about where AI systems actually break once they leave the demo phase
vector search helped bootstrap the first wave of RAG that extended the use of agents into every domain/industry
but at real scale, with millions of documents, evolving workflows, production agents, similarity ≠ truth
any autonomous system depends on context to work. but retrieval needs to be grounded in the semantic meaning to be contextually accurate.
that's how we as humans work. and that's how AI would need to work alongside humans
this means that ontology-first context graphs will be a new core primitive for the AI stack.
and as context graphs took over mindshare in the past months, @hydra_db takes a foundational approach to infrastructure supporting this.
I host the annual @aiplus_hq AI+ Renaissance conference and spending time with hundreds of frontier teams building agents, multimodal systems, and enterprise AI, this is one of the companies I am most excited about
the addressable market here is massive and still largely untapped
as AI becomes embedded everywhere we work and live - from b2b systems like CRMs and internal knowledge tools to consumer memory layers in devices and everyday apps - this category will only grow in importance
huge congrats to Nishkarsh and team, and proud to be an angel investor
one of the highest-leverage infra bets I’ve seen in recent times
still very early to the market and already dominating.
hail hydra.
We've raised $6.5M to kill vector databases.
Every system today retrieves context the same way: vector search that stores everything as flat embeddings and returns whatever "feels" closest.
Similar, sure. Relevant? Almost never.
Embeddings can’t tell a Q3 renewal clause from a Q1 termination notice if the language is close enough.
A friend of mine asked his AI about a contract last week, and it returned a detailed, perfectly crafted answer pulled from a completely different client’s file.
Once you’re dealing with 10M+ documents, these mix-ups happen all the time.
VectorDB accuracy goes to shit.
We built @hydra_db for exactly this.
HydraDB builds an ontology-first context graph over your data, maps relationships between entities, understands the 'why' behind documents, and tracks how information evolves over time.
So when you ask about 'Apple,' it knows you mean the company you're serving as a customer. Not the fruit.
Even when a vector DB's similarity score says 0.94.

incredible product put together by a solo team
alex is a 19 yo college dropout who also lived in the @mission__ctrl closet
he’s insanely cracked and has great things ahead, this is just the start
enjoy this moment 🚀🚀

Hyperspell (@hyperspell) gives AI agents memory.
It connects to Slack, Gmail, Notion, and Drive, so agents get context and remember what they learn.
Congrats @conor_ai and @maebert on the launch!

not enough spaces for robotics/space/manufacturing/automation founders to meet! - making that possible next wednesday with @NFX and @EveryBanking.

Congrats to @marty_kausas and the @usepylon team on raising their Series B! Truly exceptional founder and company. Just two years ago we were roommates at @mission__ctrl when Marty was starting Pylon - now it’s one of the fastest growing B2B SaaS companies, helping top startups streamline their customer support. Incredible execution and well-deserved success! Wild how much you can build in such a short time.

Here are 17 terrible ideas we tried before Pylon:
1/ App for Parkinson's disease
2/ SaaS to check in on elderly living alone
3/ Debt settlement SaaS
4/ On-demand 3D clothing manufacturing
5/ New tab PR review tool
6/ Logistics fleet visibility software
7/ Software for dental offices
8/ Recruiting Slack app
9/ College admission software
10/ Recruiting coordinator tool
11/ Integration health dashboard
12/ Vendor warning engine
13/ Coaching SaaS
14/ Data enrichment idea
15/ New CRM
16/ API infra
17/ Mentorship management

- Some of these ideas were worked on by me with other co-founders, or Advith and Robert before we joined forces
- I personally had worked with multiple sets of co-founders before
- There are many ideas that we don't even remember anymore that are not listed here
- Not all of these ideas are actually bad (especially in an AI world), but at the time it was unclear to us what the entry points were or long-term path to become big

living in a hacker house is rocket fuel for your dreams and ambitions
there is no better place to build the future than @mission__ctrl
Every ambitious 20 something year old builder should live in a hacker house.
@SurbhiTodi and I are moving out of our hacker house @mission__ctrl. MC has been the backdrop to some of our most formative years.
We’re not the only ones who have been transformed by living here. We and other residents have met our best friends, business partners, and found our community.
This Saturday, June 28th. We’re celebrating our move out and @mission__ctrl through the ages.

Mission Control is one of the best things that happened to me early on when I first came to SF, the friends, the people, the vibes & most importantly living in the closet - it was actually great, lmao.
I think it’s one of the if not the oldest hacker house in sf & they also have a satellite house now to support more people!
mission control isn't just where I live, it's where I found my tribe
I moved to sf last year and started @hyperspell while staying in a 125 sq ft airbnb. founder life is lonely, and I wanted more than just a place to stay. I wanted a community where people care about the work and each other
mission control's entrance is just a door next to graffiti on mission street. no sign, minimal online presence. if you know, you know
what makes this place special isn't fancy amenities. it's the intensity of purpose and genuine support. alums offered advice during our fundraise, housemates celebrated our first customers, and one house member cancelled all her meetings for the day and drove me to the ER when I got a concussion
the MC community values grit over comfort and substance over style. founders have launched unicorns while sleeping on a mattress in a closet. as @jessica_gerwin put it, "everyone here will be at my wedding and my IPO"
the future gets built by people who show up for each other

I lived at Mission Control back when we were first starting Pylon. It's a one-of-a-kind 10 room, 6,400 sqft Hacker House in in the heart of the San Francisco Mission District with an insane origin story.
It was originally summer housing for the 2014 Thiel Fellow class which included Vitalik Buterin (founded Ethereum) and Lucy Guo (co-founded Scale AI).
After that summer the house continued to bring in more founders and startup folks.
The house endured and 11 years later is still spawning companies (more recently like Hightouch and yours truly, Pylon). At this point it's probably the oldest Hacker House in San Francisco.
The current residents opened up a satellite house across the street because of the surging demand and are reportedly raising a fund "Mission Street Capital" around the concept of building community and backing founders that come through it 👀 (article from Business Insider below).
This is awesome and I'm all for it.
