Jigawa, Lagos, Niger
What Happens Next
1. Complete the Constitutional Amendment
With 24 State Houses of Assembly having approved, the resolutions are sent back to the National Assembly. Once confirmed, the amendment proceeds for presidential assent. This creates the constitutional basis for State Police Services alongside a Federal Police Service.
2. Finalise and Pass the National Policing Bill
The draft National Policing Bill (and related consequential amendments) is currently under review by the Ministry of Justice. After validation and presidential consideration, it will go to the National Assembly for passage. This law sets the national standards, certification process, oversight, funding, and operational rules.
3. States Pass Their Own Laws
Each state that wants to operate a State Police Service must enact its own state law establishing it.
4. State Certification
No State Police Service can begin operations until the state is certified as meeting the national minimum standards. The process is phased: the constitutional change enables it, but certification is required before any actual policing starts.
5. Operational Launch
Once certified, the State Police Service can commence. Federal coordination, inspections, accountability mechanisms, and possible federal intervention remain in place.

I spoke with a Gen Z doctor today who graduated from LASUCOM. I told him that LASUCOM is one of the educational legacies of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Asiwaju established the Lagos State College of Medicine in 1999 and upgraded General Hospital Ikeja to a teaching hospital. He also ensured the College obtained all necessary accreditations by 2005.
The college has produced over 1400 healthcare professionals, and it remains the number 1 state-owned college of medicine in Nigeria. Of course, he didn't know...

NRC invites private firms to run own trains on its tracks.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), established for sole control of railways, is offering private operators access to its approximately 4,000 km rail network for a fee, provided they supply their own locomotives and rolling stock.
Kayode Opeifa, managing director of the NRC, said the corporation grants what it calls track access, permitting private and private companies to operate on railway infrastructure built with public funds.
“You can bring your train, bring your locomotive, bring your wagons, bring your everything. We will run it on it. You just pay us your money. We don’t want to run the trains alone,” Opeifa told stakeholders Tuesday

The man knows the true story of how he got into office. He knows those that openly stood against him, he knows those that secretly opposed him, he knows those he counted on that left him out dry. He knows those that repaid him with neutrality after being on their side when no one wanted to, he knows those that pretended to be on his side but where actually against him, he saw those that stabbed him in the back, he saw it all. He knows those he can count on. He understands how he got to that seat. He is a godfather without any godfather except God the father.
Those that tied him to the stake, today want to have a stake in his steak. He gave them strokes with his stick. That is what they deserve.

Imagine using a Nigerian passport to travel out of the country, only to turn around and call that same passport useless. If it’s so useless, how did you use it to get there?
Some of you will acquire permanent residency abroad and start talking down on Nigeria as if you’ve suddenly become citizens by birth of those countries. You’re still Black, and no matter how long you live abroad, some people will still see you as a foreigner. Having permanent residency doesn’t automatically make you an indigenous citizen.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting a better life abroad. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating your achievements. But why must you constantly disrespect your country to prove that you’ve made it?
The same Nigerian passport you’re mocking has taken people to different parts of the world. Yes, Nigeria has its problems, and we’re allowed to criticise them. But there’s a difference between demanding better from your country and constantly ridiculing it for social media validation.
Travel abroad, build your life, get your residency and enjoy your achievements. But you don’t have to rubbish Nigeria to prove you’ve made it.

Hmmmmmmm!
Asiwaju must write a book after he leaves office, events must be documented for the sake of posterity. Na my own be that.
"...What did they not do against President Tinubu? Tell me. What did they not do before 2014, 2015, and even between 2015 and 2023? He was marginalised. I saw it with my own eyes... I sat in meetings where they put President Tinubu behind me. They marginalised the man. You know what he did? He just waited. He waited for his time. And then when they were even going to come out in 2023, did you see what they did with the issue of Naira re-design? He acted; he organised. That is what Atiku has failed to understand. And that's why it's so painful..." - Laolu Akande, former presidential spokesperson
