We are getting hotter! St. Denis Ssebuggwawo SS Ggaba is in! WordPress Campus Connect continues to grow across Central and Eastern Uganda, and we are excited to welcome St. Denis Ssebuggwawo SS Ggaba into the journey. With every new school, we are creating more opportunities for students to discover WordPress, build practical digital skills, explore open source, create their first websites, and see how technology can support their education, careers, ideas, and communities. As we move into the next phase of Campus Connect, we are also working to make the experience richer for the students we meet. That means going beyond the session itself and connecting learners to resources and opportunities they can continue using afterward. We are therefore inviting partners and supporters to help us strengthen the upcoming school engagements through student opportunities, print materials, internet support, laptop stickers, domains and hosting, mentorship, learning resources, internships, and other practical benefits for learners. If your organisation has something that could help a student continue learning, building, or growing after Campus Connect, we would be very happy to explore how it can be included. A big thank you to all the sponsors @WooCommerce, @bluehost , @automattic , @jetpack , @Hostinger , @yoast , @elemntor , @ForthFocusGroup , @Infinityi3C, partners @PressmentorFnd, @ablestateafrica , @SharebilityUg, @EzoneSchool, @EduTechTrsNet , facilitators @SteveUG , @ShebaAyinza, @ocen_chris , @davidofug , @AbudiMutamba, @mrogers4christ, @SAndrewug, volunteers @widesploit, @moses_octav Teachers and community members who continue to make this possible. St. Anthony Girls’ Secondary School Kakooge is in! @WordPress Campus Connect continues to grow across Central and Eastern Uganda, and we are excited to welcome @stanthonykakoge into the journey. With every new school, we are creating more opportunities for students to discover WordPress, build practical digital skills, explore open source, create their first websites, and understand how technology can support their education, careers, ideas, and communities. This stop is especially exciting for us because it continues a growing effort to expose more young women and girls to the web, open source, digital creation, and the opportunities available within the wider technology ecosystem. We want the students we meet to see technology not simply as something they consume, but as something they can build, shape, and lead. As Campus Connect moves into its next phase, we are also working to make each engagement richer for the learners. That means going beyond the physical session and connecting students to resources and opportunities they can continue using afterward. If your organisation has something that could help a student continue learning, building, or growing after Campus Connect, we would be very happy to explore how it can be included. A big thank you to all the sponsors @WooCommerce, @bluehost , @automattic , @jetpack, @Hostinger, @yoast, @elemntor , @ForthFocusGroup , @Infinityi3C, Partners @ablestateafrica, @SharebilityUg, @EzoneSchool, @EduTechTrsNet, facilitators @SteveUG, @ShebaAyinza, @ocen_chris, @davidofug, @AbudiMutamba, @mrogers4christ, @SAndrewug, volunteers @widesploit, @moses octav teachers, and community members who continue to make this possible. We are at @umu_nkozi today! WordPress Campus Connect is continuing its journey across Central and Eastern Uganda, and today we are engaging students at Uganda Martyrs University in a practical session around WordPress, open source, digital skills, and opportunities on the web. The focus is on helping students move from simply using the internet to actually building with it. Throughout the session, participants will explore how WordPress can support personal portfolios, school and community projects, digital publishing, business ideas, freelancing, and future careers in technology. One of the most exciting parts of Campus Connect is seeing students realise that they do not need to wait until they are experts before they begin creating. With the right guidance, tools, and community, they can start building now. Today is about learning, experimenting, asking questions, and opening doors to what is possible with WordPress. A few nights ago, thieves broke into our home and stole everything I use to work and create, computers, monitor, networking gear, storage drives, power banks, you name it. Miraculously, no one was hurt, but waking up to an empty desk was a gut punch. How would I rebuild my workspace? How would I keep serving the @WordPress community? Before I could answer, friends across the WordPress world launched a @GoFundMe for me and the response has been amazing. We’ve already hit 64% of our goal, driven by donations, shares, messages, and prayers from around the globe. Why this matters: being online isn’t just convenient, it’s my livelihood. It’s where I learn, mentor, organize events, and give back. Restoring my setup reignites all those connections and projects. Current status: • 64% funded and 36% to go. If you’ve pitched in, shared, or sent well wishes, you’ve kept our momentum alive. If you can, please help us cross the finish line: donate or share: gofundme.com/f/help-moses-ge… Thank you for proving that a united community can conquer even the darkest setbacks. Let’s finish this together. 🙏🏽
