On 5th October 2026, 22 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) became functional across six districts of Odisha, taking the total number of functional EMRS from 47 to 69, out of 111 sanctioned schools in the State.

EMRSs are also promoting “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein,” encouraging every child to spend meaningful time on the field. Principals, teachers, PETs and staff are guiding students and ensuring safe, inclusive and spirited participation.

Students are participating in athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, chess, yoga and indigenous games, along with sports demonstrations, friendly competitions and fitness activities.

The celebration honours India’s rich sporting heritage. 29th August marks the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Sports help build discipline, teamwork, confidence, resilience, leadership and healthy lifestyles among students.
The Entrance Examination for filling 1140 seats in Class VI for the academic year 2026-27 II in 24 EMRSs, was held on 26th July 2026 at 17 examination centers across 7 districts of the state. All these schools follow the CBSE curriculum. (1/1)
