Researchers from the University of Helsinki 🇫🇮 and Nagoya University 🇯🇵 used near-infrared light and Modulight’s ML8500 to trigger hydrogel degradation, opening new possibilities for controlled drug delivery.
From injectable hydrogels to implants, this approach could enable on-demand, light-controlled drug release. 💡

Can bioluminescence activate photoimmunotherapy?
Researchers at Northeastern University & Cornell engineered immune cells to generate light and tested verteporfin activation in 3D ovarian cancer spheroids.
Bioluminescence remained below the effective cytotoxic threshold.
Meanwhile, conventional light activation with the ML6600 laser system delivered a clear, dose-dependent therapeutic response.
