I’m excited to announce a new preprint with @RachelJWhitaker! We developed a command line toolkit for the identification and analysis of CRISPR arrays, called the CRISPR Comparison ToolKit (CCTK). A thread about what it can be used for: 1/15

So happy I made it to the finish line! Successfully defended my thesis today while 35 weeks pregnant 🥳 the past few months were intense and I want to thank @smoineau for his immense support. I’ll cherish being called a Dr for the next month before adding Mom to my titles ☺️
I also want to thank @landrychristian @CulleyAlex and @corinnefmaurice for agreeing to sit on my committee and providing excellent feedback. Now time for rest!

Congratulations Brayon Fremin! Great work on the identification of thousands of small, novel genes in global #phage genomes from IMG/VR. @AmyBhatt @IMG_DATA - cell.com/cell-reports/fullte…
Question for foodies living in Boston/Cambridge: what restaurant would you recommend that is walking distance from MIT and🤰🏻-friendly? I’m going to the #CRISPR2022 meeting in three weeks and am looking for a nice restaurant to spend the evening with @smoineau and @GeneMRousseau

Our latest contribution to the #CRISPR and #phage fields is now out in @NatureComms. Congrats to @CcilePhilippe1 and the #bacteriophagebunker for this superbe work: A truncated anti-CRISPR protein prevents spacer acquisition but not interference

@mRoussy23 and I have been looking at the current state of Tri-Council awards for grad students. It's not great. For ex, the @NSERC_CRSNG PGS-D award has not changed in value since 2008. The red line is @StatCan_eng's poverty line (dashed is an estimate based on inflation).

ALT A plot with amount in Canadian dollars on the y-axis and years (since 2008) on the x-axis. One line shows the value of the NSERC PGS doctoral award since 2008 (it is flat). Another line shows the Canadian poverty line for a single individual living in cities with more than five hundred thousand people in Canada.

You know you’re in lockdown when your exciting Saturday night activity is to throw an exotic fruit tasting with your bf @PhilDespres 🍍Do you recognize some of these?
Shameless plug: "‘Phages are the most abundant and diverse biologi- cal entities on the planet’. This opening statement has become a favourite of many viral ecologists." (Dion et al Nat Rev Microbiol 2020)
