Saul Dreier, 98-year-old founder of the Holocaust Survivor Band, had a lifelong dream to play at the @WhiteHouse.
He fulfilled that dream this week.
After meeting @POTUS at the Hanukkah reception, he rocked it on drums with the President’s Own Marine Band. Keep Rockin’ Saul!

Highland Parkers gathered today to honor their fallen community members, one year after a shooter killed seven at the city's annual July 4 parade.
As the community struggles to heal, other U.S. cities reel from fresh eruptions of gun violence.

This week, our nation has again endured a wave of tragic shootings — just as we mark one year since the tragedy in Highland Park, Illinois.
Jill and I grieve for those lost, and as our nation celebrates Independence Day, we pray for the day when we’ll be free from gun violence.

Sadly, Senate Democrats played politics and blocked these two critical school safety bills.

Earlier, I spoke to Reps Jones, Pearson, and Johnson to thank them for their leadership and courage in the face of a blatant disregard of our nation’s democratic values.
Our country needs to take action on gun violence — to do that we need more voices like theirs speaking out.

Years ago, I attended a meeting about the future of democracy at Harlan Crow’s “house” (which was staged as a museum). I left deeply shaken by the Nazi memorabilia on display. Apparently I wasn’t alone. washingtonian.com/2023/04/07… 1/5
