Pretty historically unusual for women to threaten to murder strangers in broad daylight. My verdict on the American experiment: ❌ failure.
When you read medieval introductions they're like oh my worthless treatise might help 1-2 people—I didn't even want to write it but the brothers made me—and then it's amazing. But then you read the early moderns and they're like yeah I'm gonna solve this entire scientific field

Of course, often in life the intelligent thing to say is "we don't know what we are talking about."
In order to understand the depth of Plato’s disdain for democracy you have to imagine if the 1960s counterculture had been fervently pro-war and Woodstock had had ecstatic anthems about exterminating the Vietcong and then they had put Cardinal Ratzinger on trial and executed him.
If I had one message for Rome it would be… it looks a bit silly to always praise dialogue and never actually dialogue or explain yourself.

Anyway at some level I'm kind of bored and will move on to something else now. Rome has a course charted, nothing will change it, I should focus on other things.
The thing about LLMs is they're completely dependent on what humans have written. If Wikipedia and Reddit say the sun is green then GPT will tell you the sun is green.
Basically Rome is right but for some reason (I don't understand) this involves things like contradicting St Paul and generally being utterly uninspiring so that an average mass feels like some kind of play-acted meeting.

I think a good way of modelling Rome's mindset is "Catholicism (as a distinctive denomination) should not exist". Whereas trads absolutely do not want that.
At some point trads will have their Synod of Pistoia, Rome will give them their Auctorem fidei back, and then history will move on.
Basically trads think Vatican II has to be recovered from and Rome thinks it has to be fully implemented. And if you point this out to them they think you're evil. I guess they also get mad at the weather report for not saying "sunny every day forever".
I try my best to love the new order… am I not a model Winston Smith… but every week they throw something new at me
I write this mainly because judging from on here you'd think that inevitably there's going to be a great Traddening very soon and I think this is some kind of delusive wishful thinking. The Vatican have set themselves up for some of these things for decades. They mean it!
There's a reason "Socratic dialogue" and Plato generally were most prized by democratic Great Books-type educators and not in actual Christendom—because the movement of the dialogues is exactly from democratic laxity to God. But they're not edifying reading for young seminarians.
Vatican to do list for the next 50 years:
- remove the filioque from the creed
- remove the tiara from emblems
– more lay say in election of bishops
- Amoris for contraception
- deaconesses
- more inter-communion with non-Catholics
- more non-Catholic saints
- common Easter date
