Tony Harwood will be speaking at #TheMiningShow 2026 in Dubai, 16–17 November.
Keynote Fireside Chat: AI and Machine Learning in Mineral Exploration - Hype, Reality and Results. AI should improve geological judgement, not replace it.

Finding copper is only the first challenge.
At Avispa, we are exploring for potential concealed Cu-Mo porphyry mineralisation. Our objective is a discovery that could, following appropriate studies, support cost-competitive production.
Geology comes first. Economics must follow.
Montero has closed its CAD$1.5M non-brokered private placement. Net proceeds are intended for Elvira exploration and drilling, other Chilean projects and working capital. Subject to final TSXV acceptance.

When does an exploration anomaly become a drill target? One dataset isn't enough.
At Avispa, we aim to identify where independent geological, geochemical and geophysical evidence converges, then refine targets before drilling tests the geological hypothesis.
How do you explore for a porphyry Cu-Mo system you can't see?
At Avispa, prospective geology lies beneath younger cover.
No single method suffices. Geology + geochemistry + geophysics + structure + historical work help build a subsurface picture and identify first-pass targets.
What has previous exploration at Avispa told us?
Prospective volcanic and intrusive rocks lie beneath younger cover, with historical RC sampling returning anomalous Cu-Mo values. The question now: where are the best targets, and how do we identify and prioritise them?

Why does regional structure matter in copper exploration?
Porphyry systems rely on pathways for magma and hydrothermal fluids.
At Avispa , we combine machine-learning and geological interpretation to assess regional regional data and refine targets beneath younger cover.

Another positive signal for mineral exploration in Chile.
Chile’s Economy & Mining Minister has discussed potential incentives for greenfield exploration. Details remain under development, but Montero welcomes initiatives supporting responsible exploration & investment in Chile.
Montero announces a non-brokered private placement of up to 4M units at C$0.55 for gross proceeds of up to C$2.2M. Proceeds will support Elvira exploration and drilling, other Chilean projects and working capital. Subject to TSXV approval.
Why do giant copper deposits cluster instead of occurring randomly? The broader mineral system matters as much as individual geophysical or geochemical anomalies. That’s why Montero is exploring Chile’s world-class porphyry Cu-Mo systems.
Copper prices have remained near historic highs.
The real story isn't price.
It's the growing challenge of discovering and developing enough new copper deposits to meet future demand from electrification, AI, renewable energy and grid expansion.

Chile has proposed environmental reforms that could boost mineral exploration. The changes would raise northern Chile’s threshold for mandatory SEIA review from 40 to 160 drill platforms, subject to consultation and approval - a positive step for a premier mining jurisdiction.
Every successful drillhole is a team effort.
Thanks to our geologists, consultants, drill crews, contractors and support staff whose professionalism, expertise and dedication made the completion of MON-ELV-02 possible.
Now we look forward to the laboratory assay results.

Exploration doesn't end when drilling stops.
Core logging, portable XRF, sampling and geological interpretation are underway as the team works to better understand the geological setting of MON-ELV-02 within the Elvira hydrothermal system.
Laboratory assays are pending.

Preliminary geological observations from MON-ELV-02 are consistent with elements of our exploration model:
• Volcanic-to-porphyry contact (~195m)
• >430 m of porphyry
• Extensive quartz-alunite-pyrite alteration
• Widespread pyrite within the modelled IP chargeability anomaly
Drillhole MON-ELV-02 is complete!
• 625.25 m drilled
• First complete drill test of Montero's high-priority
target at Elvira
• MON-ELV-03 now underway
Exploration is rarely a straight line to discovery, but every completed drillhole adds to our geological understanding.
The world wants electrification, renewable energy, and AI. All require copper. The challenge isn't demand - it's finding new copper deposits to meet future needs. Montero holds the 100%-owned Avispa Project in Chile's Paleocene Porphyry Cu-Mo Belt. More on Avispa in future posts.
