Sounds like a joke… but it’s real. 🎃 Not every paint is made for your skin. Craft and other non-cosmetic paints can cause irritation when they’re used for Halloween face or body painting. Before applying anything to your skin, check the label and make sure the product is intended for cosmetic use. If a skin exposure happens and you have questions, call the Missouri Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 #SpookyMonth #HalloweenSafety #PoisonPrevention #CostumeSafety #MissouriPoisonCenter

Creating spooky Halloween effects with dry ice? 👻🧊 Dry ice can make decorations and party displays look extra scary, but you need to handle it carefully. Because it’s extremely cold, direct contact can cause frostbite-like injuries. Use metal tongs or an oven mitt when handling dry ice, and only use it in a well-ventilated area to help prevent carbon dioxide buildup. World Food Day is a good reminder that food safety starts before the first bite. 🥬🍎 When preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, a few simple habits can help reduce the risk of foodborne illness: • Choose produce that isn’t bruised or damaged. • Keep fresh produce separate from raw meat, poultry, and seafood. • Wash your hands before and after preparing food. • Rinse fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water. • Refrigerate perishable and pre-cut produce properly. 🐾✨ Meet our new Poison Prevention Pawtner: Clarice! Clarice is Courtney’s adorable 10-pound Shih Tzu, Bichon mix, and her name has a very specific inspiration: Clarice from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, definitely not The Silence of the Lambs. 😄 Courtney chose the name when Clarice was just a puppy because she was simply too cute, and it fit her perfectly from day one. She may be tiny, but Clarice is surprisingly athletic. She can jump impressively high for such a little dog, and when the zoomies hit, she makes sure everyone knows it. 💨🐶 When it comes to treats, Clarice isn’t exactly picky, but scrambled eggs are especially hard for her to resist. 🍳 If Courtney is making breakfast, there’s a very good chance Clarice is nearby, patiently hoping for a bite. Clarice also has a hidden talent that makes her extra special: she can sneeze on command! And if she could talk for just one day, Courtney thinks her first words would be something simple and sweet: “I love you.” ❤️ Whether she’s jumping, zooming, begging for eggs, or showing off her best sneeze, Clarice has a way of making Courtney smile. Help us welcome Clarice as our newest Poison Prevention Pawtner! 🐾🧡 #PoisonPreventionPawtner #DogLover #PetSpotlight #MissouriPoisonCenter #FurryFriends
