👋 I'm the PM on GitHub's Maintainer Love team, and we're focused on making your life easier.
If you could wave a magic wand, what is the #1 feature you'd want us to ship? No idea is too tiny - the smallest changes often have the biggest impact.
Drop your wishes below. 👇
We worked with maintainers, including @tianzhouchen, to build a better way to track GitHub stars over time.
The new API returns daily star counts without exposing who starred a project, making star history easier to retrieve, cheaper to serve, and more private.
Here's how we built it:

As low-quality contributions increase across open source repositories, more contributors should have the tools to help manage repos.
Users with triage, write, maintain, or admin access can now archive PRs.
Users with triage role or higher can now archive and unarchive pull requests.
• Archiving closes PRs, makes them read-only, and hides them from public view
• Unarchiving restores commenting but does not reopen the PR

Approvals are now retained for Stacked PRs after stack rebases ✅
Whether you use the "Rebase stack" button or partially merge a stack, as long as the diff doesn't change, PR approvals will be kept even if you have "dismiss stale approvals" turned on
After introducing PR limits, we heard from maintainers dealing with a flood of draft PRs.
You can now turn on “Count draft pull requests toward the limit” to include drafts in your repository’s limit.
What other controls would help you manage contributions?

The busiest single repo on GitHub saw roughly a billion requests in ONE MONTH. Today, we shared how we’re rebuilding GitHub’s storage layer (without changing how you use GitHub) decoupling compute & storage so reads and writes scale independently.
Quicker pushes, pulls, and a platform that stays fast as more agents and developers code. We’re designing against some of the largest workloads on the platform so there’s headroom for everyone.
More below on how this works and excited to show you more at @GitHub Universe. 👇
excited to ship some highly requested security advisory updates for maintainers 🚀
keep sharing your feedback - what else do you want to see improved for security advisories?
Big shoutout to @GitHub this week. In two days, they shipped a stack of security advisory updates that maintainers have been asking for for a long time. 🛡️
Just shipped new controls to help manage spam and slop in private vulnerability reporting:
• Daily limits on new reports per account
• Custom daily limits for your repo
• Allow lists for trusted reporters

so many great stacks improvements this week 🚀
gh stack CLI now supports git worktrees 🥞
You can manage stacks where each branch is in a separate worktree, while still taking advantages of things like cascading stack rebases

Did you know that the GitHub pull requests page now has much more context! Making it easier to easier to find and act on pull requests in a repository.
1/4 Yesterday, I said SWC would stop accepting external PRs. A comment from a GitHub employee on that announcement made me reconsider. I'm now exploring reopening PRs to a trusted group of contributors.
