Meet Madam Jeanne Louise Calment, who had the longest confirmed human lifespan: 122 years, 164 days. Apparently, fate strongly approved of the way she lived her life. She was born in Arles, France, on February 21, 1875. The Eiffel Tower was built when she was 14 years old. When she was 85, she took up fencing, and still rode her bike when she reached 100. At the age of 114, she starred in a film about her life, at age 115 she had an operation on her hip, and at age 117 she gave up smoking, having started at the age of 21 in 1896. She didn't give it up for health reasons; her reason was that she didn't like having to ask someone to help her light a cigarette once she was nearly blind. Jeanne retained sharp mental faculties. When she was asked on her 120th birthday what kind of future she expected to have. Her reply, "A very short one." Here are the Rules of Life from Jeanne Louise Calment: "I'm in love with wine." "All babies are beautiful." "I think I will die of laughter." "I've been forgotten by our Good Lord." "I've got only one wrinkle, and I'm sitting on it." "I never wear mascara; I laugh until I cry often." "If you can't change something, don't worry about it." "Always keep your smile. That's how I explain my long life." "I see badly, I hear badly, and I feel bad, but everything's fine." "I have a huge desire to live and a big appetite, especially for sweets." "I have legs of iron, but to tell you the truth, they're starting to rust and buckle a bit." "I took pleasure when I could. I acted clearly and morally and without regret. I'm very lucky." “Being young is a state of mind, it doesn’t depend on one’s body. I’m actually still a young girl, it's just that I haven't looked so good for the past 70 years." At the end of one interview, the journalist said, "Madame, I hope we will meet again sometime next year." To which Jeanne replied, "Why not? You're not that old; you'll still be here!” I hope you enjoyed this little story and it inspires you to not take life too seriously, and live a little like Jeanne. And please remember growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

This is Jon Ossoff. He just got reelected in Georgia and then cooked Trump’s intelligence nominee in under 2 minutes. Asked a simple question: who won 2020? The nominee folded. Ossoff didn’t. No spin. No fear. Just pure pressure. This is what Democrats who actually want to win look like. Watch it. Then tell me if you still think he’s “too young.”

My aunt got accused of shoplifting a $4 rotisserie chicken she had already paid for. Self-checkout, Saturday, she pays, bags her stuff, heads for the door. A loss prevention kid steps in front of her cart and says, "Ma'am, you need to come back inside." She says, "I paid." He says, "We need to verify." So she goes back. He pulls the chicken out of her bag, holds it up, and says, "This one didn't scan." She says, "Then why is it on my receipt?" She's holding the receipt. She shows him. He looks at it for a long time. Then he says the sentence that made my aunt, a 71-year-old woman who has never gotten so much as a parking ticket, see red: "Sometimes people print fake receipts." She asked for a manager. Manager looked at the receipt, looked at the chicken, and said, "We'll let it slide this time." *Let it slide.* It scanned. It was paid for. She called corporate the next morning and got a $25 gift card and a half-hearted apology. She donated the gift card to the food bank and now drives eleven extra minutes to a different grocery store. Store security is a real job and shrink is a real cost. But "we'll let it slide" to a woman who did nothing is worse than the accusation.

I absolutely love that two of the biggest female numpties in Congress were both defeated by female Navy brass ousted by Hegseth: Boebert lost her seat to Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, and Nancy Mace lost to Vice Admiral Nancy Lacore.

This is Pauline Lumumba, the woman who watched them kill her husband and then walked half-naked in protest. You may not have seen the photo, but it shows a Congolese woman, bare-chested, with her hair shaved, walking in the street crying, with a child tied on her back. That woman is Pauline Opangu Lumumba, the wife of Patrice Lumumba, in 1961. Patrice was only 35 years old and had been Prime Minister of Congo for just 67 days. His crime was that he declared, "Congo is not Belgium's property. Our gold, our copper, and our diamonds will feed our children." Because of those words, Belgium, America, and his own army chief, Mobutu, decided that he must die. On January 17, 1961, they took Patrice, together with Maurice Mpolo and Joseph Okito, to Katanga. Pauline recounts what happened to him in harrowing detail. She said they beat him for hours, pulled out his teeth, and forced him to eat his own speech papers. Then a Belgian officer, Gerard Soete, shot him. After that, they cut his body into pieces with a saw and poured acid over it to dissolve him, so that no grave would ever exist. There was no body, no grave, only acid. When they told Pauline, she did not scream. In Congolese tradition, she shaved her hair to mourn her husband. She removed her top to show the world, "You have stripped me of my husband. I have nothing left." Then she walked barefoot from Leopoldville to the place where they killed him, a journey of 1,000 km, with her baby on her back, singing his name all the way. Mobutu, who took part in killing her husband, went on to become President for 32 years with US support. Belgium kept Lumumba's gold tooth as a souvenir in a police station until 2020. Patrice Lumumba died because he wanted a united Africa, like Gaddafi. Pauline died in 2014, still waiting for his body to be buried, and she never remarried. That is the price of saying, "Africa for Africans." And you still think Africa's poverty is because we are lazy?

He is 42 years old 🇺🇸 His younger brother is named Osama. On 9/11 his stepmother called to say she was picking the brother up from school. Abdul stayed at school "just in case" anyone needed defending. After 9/11, at age 16, he was a target on the football field, got into a fight after hearing racist comments, and was told by his coach "You're going to be Abdul El-Sayed for the rest of your life. You can use that as an excuse or as motivation" His Egyptian grandmother (Teta Soad), who was illiterate and raised kids in a one-bedroom apartment above a fish market, is the person he still asks himself about daily "Would Teta be proud? He was born on Halloween Captained his high school football, wrestling, and lacrosse teams. He has said he has only seen his father cry twice in his life. One of those times was when his father had to tell him that Teta had died. At age 30, he became the youngest health director of a major U.S city when he was appointed to rebuild Detroit’s health department. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed met his wife Sarah through the Muslim Students' Association at the University of Michigan and proposed while she was still a freshman. . . . . Abdul El-Sayed is the first Muslim Senator in US history. It's an huge win for the Muslim community, the Democrats and the state of Michigan whom majority voted him in. He has emerged as a Senator because a part of the people in the state of Michigan believe in his competence in governing affairs, as he has proven himself in past offices. . . . In the midst of all the uproar going on, let's look forward to how this win will bring about the best interest of the people of Michigan and the united states in general, as this is the most paramount. . . . Congratulations Abdul El-Sayed . . Thank you very much for reading . . ✍️ Vincent the Therapist

Can't stop thinking about Andrew Goodman and James Chaney today, Jewish and Black activists killed in '64 by the KKK for registering Black voters in... Mississippi. The same state that's about to send a Black man to the Senate to fight for Civil Rights – alongside a Jew from GA.

A centuries-old rule has been broken in New Zealand and it’s making history.Rawiri Barriball, a Māori sailor in the Royal New Zealand Navy, has become the first to be officially allowed to wear his sacred moko kauae (chin) and mataora (full-face) tattoos while on duty. Announced on July 23, 2025, the decision marks a powerful shift in military grooming standards, embracing the deep cultural significance of Māori heritage. The Navy says the change is part of a broader effort to honor tikanga Māori (Māori customs) and celebrate diversity in its ranks.Tradition isn’t something to hide — when given space, it stands proud and leads the way

One of the most memorable responses I’ve seen to a question in politics. You can admire someone, acknowledge what you owe them, and still disagree with their decisions. Respect does not require complete agreement. And disagreement should never require the abandonment of respect.
