Passing through NYC for work when Teenage Engineering @jugendingenieur opens their first physical store is kismet. Had an hour free to grab a hard drive from my post producer before tonight’s flight, I made him meet me there for the handoff. It’s an incredible space. Phenomenal experience to finally handle the equipment in person and meet some of the team. Didn’t find out about the production line upstairs until after leaving!

I’m glad people experiment with custom line scan cameras. Adam Magyar was a pioneer in custom digital slit-scan photography. He also made custom rigs with machine vision cameras and backpack computers to capture mesmerizing footage at extreme framerates. magyaradam.com/

Fun fact: if you train a 3D Gaussian splat with images where the subject keeps looking at the camera, you get this... 👀

Someone made a modern magnetic core memory usb thumbdrive. Storage capacity 128 bytes.
Magnetic core memory is early random access memory tech from 1950s-1970s, this tech was in the Apollo Guidance Computer. It uses tiny ferrite rings (toroids) arranged in a grid, with wires threading through them to magnetize the cores clockwise or counterclockwise, representing binary 1 or 0.
A fundamental form of digital computer memory, but feels very analog.

The quest for base truth in ai systems isn’t a human undertaking in my opinion.
Humans aren’t great at telling the truth so much as we are great at identifying *a* truth that produces desirable results in a given system at a given moment. We can’t escape subjectivity.
Agentic systems require a lot more rigor when engaging with external reality, as their experience is entirely objective.

15mb gaussian splat generated from a single Midjourney image running extremely smooth on the web. 2026 will be the year for world models.
