We need to make space for teachers to do more than teaching in their week; ideally as you commit to the profession to profession commits to your development. There needs to be flex to be able to engage in things beyond the classroom, to rejuvenate what you do in it.

To everyone working in education: thank you for all your hard work this year. At @educationgovuk, we'll get our heads down over summer so that on the other side of the holidays, you have what you need to do your vital work. I hope you enjoy your very well-deserved break 🌞
As schools across England break up for the summer holiday, there is no better time to say THANK YOU to all the incredible teachers who've supported our children throughout this academic year. Watch Education Secretary @bphillipsonmp's end of year message for teachers ⬇️

The danger with trying to make a curriculum ‘relevant’ to children is that an important purpose of education is to bring the universe to them, galaxies they’ve never encountered it imagined, not just what they already know and like. This is how you patronise kids, and keep their experience as small as the circumference of their current circumstances.

Have to apologise to @adamboxer1 today. I’ve been all over his socials. It just so happens that each of your tweets coincide with my baby’s nap times and they’re always so well debated, I just can’t keep my nose out! Keep tweeting Adam! 🔥 I can’t get enough!

Just had a wild flash back: in Year 10, we were given half a day off of time table to take ‘learning style’ tests. Students were then given an activity in line with their learning style. I was the only child that scored equally across all learning styles. 🧵

I ended up sitting for half an hour watching my friend learn how to juggle (kinaesthetic learner 🤪) I missed a double Maths lesson for that! AND I was failing Maths!

Went to a really interesting CPD session this morning that supported teachers using end of year data in gentle way to identify ‘Will’ and ‘Skill’ and plan intervention accordingly. What do people think of this approach? How do teachers use data in your schools? #edutwitter

Interesting threads coming through in our teacher retention book so far: - Belonging and psychological safety - Professional trust and agency - Being part of a community - Teaching being a well respected profession Without these things, people leave.
