“distribution and attention, earned through reputation”
Motion is the moat
there are only 2 durable moats left that no AI model will ever replace:
1) obsession, hunger and execution. the ability to iterate and build new moats faster than the old ones get copied.
2) distribution and attention, earned through reputation, trust and even regulation. the thing that makes people choose you and stay with you over the copycats.
2) only matters if you have 1)
Nobody will remember:
- If you're a lawyer
- If you're a doctor
- If you're a trader or a software engineer
People will only remember:
- If you have motion

i’ve followed people for much worse reasons than this
might as well follow motion and see what they’re cooking

It costs me nothing to get on the list, and the upside could be huge..

connecting dots here
leaderboard has a rank change column packs exist
so does pulling someone at 60 who jumps to 20 mean your card is suddenly worth more?
if yes, motion just turned culture into something you can actually collect

ngl I see this become a major hit since I don't think we've ever had someone grading the whole internet

the interesting part is getting in before everyone understands what the cards could become
if motion nails the collecting experience, these packs could end up being one of the game's biggest draws
early days but worth watching

the most underrated part of this moment in time is how many people are about to become someone
a decade ago the path to cultural relevance ran through gatekeepers like labels, publishers, etc now a kid streaming from his bedroom can end up performing at a world cup final (SPEEEEED), a physicist can turn a pseudonym into a movement + company, and a software engineer can become one of the most followed traders on the internet (ansem)
the lines between disciplines are blurring every single day, founders become celebrities, researchers build audiences bigger than media companies, etc
it's easy to be cynical about the attention economy & obviously there's plenty to be cynical about but the beautiful version of it is that talent has never been this discoverable
