Overview of the proposed solution for our #ProjectCatalyst proposal: Tokenization of Real World Assets (RWA) - Nairobi Securities Exchange / Empowa 🇰🇪🏠📈 👇🏽 Current Situation in Kenya: 🟠 27,786 mortgages in a country of 51 million people (0.05% of the population), compared to the UK with 11.4 million mortgages for 68 million people (17%). 🟠 Over 80% of income is informal, disqualifying most of the market from mortgages. 🟠 250,000 - the annual housing gap. 98% of developments target upper-middle and high-end segments. 🟠 Urban population growth: 3.4% per annum. 🟠 $2.5 billion needed annually to address the housing gap. ✅ Proposed Solution The NSE is seeking to assess the potential viability of blockchain technology for the creation of capital instruments to address the $2.5bn annual housing finance requirement, with a focus on the informal consumer market.
