I’ve discovered that extreme anti-AI people cannot separate their reasonable opposition to generative AI music and art from the remarkable capabilities of coding agents. They throw the baby out with the bathwater. You can still ardently oppose AI art while embracing other uses.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. Consider scrolling proverbs this morning - some bangers in there, as the kids say.

I have a suspicion that most of the extreme anti-AI accounts on X are bots. Which is wildly ironic.

In the future we will need a disclaimer for NO-AI used in games/music/art. Organic free range hand crafted games/music/art. THAT is a selling point. Allows you to coexist and compete with people using AI. You will be rare. Therefore valuable.

But we must accept the reality that BOTH AI and NO-AI will coexist.

There are two kinds of people on the AI debate as it pertains to software: Those that used Opus 5.5 in a coding agent and those that haven’t. Most people form their entire opinions on using free ChatGPT 6 months ago. Yell at me in the comments below šŸ‘‡

Process and results are different yet both important parts of the creative process. As an artist, there is great joy in the process. When creating for fun, the result almost doesn’t matter. I love doing this when I can! As a professional creative, the final results are what matter to the one who commissioned us. Unfortunately, we aren’t hired to dabble forever in a creative playground (at least I never have). We must deliver results. We can enjoy the road getting there, but deadlines, specs, and budgets demand that we deliver. It’s healthy to pull out a pencil, and your instrument once in a while to not forget the process. (Preaching to myself)

My most honest and real thoughts on AI in games. Not defending sides. Just me talking about why I use AI.

If @omarchy runs on anything then… @musio now runs on everything!! I gotta test this now.

The playing field has been leveled for everyone. This should be great news.
Unpopular opinion: The biggest advantage of AI isn't that it makes developers faster. It's that it lets people who were never allowed into the room start building. That's a much bigger shift than most people realize.

True, but I think we’re heading toward non-AI certification, like ā€œorganic, free-range, GMO-free.ā€ It will be rarer.
Devs should disclose AI use for the same reason I want to know if the eggs I buy are free range or battery hens.

Let’s have a moment for the state of the ā€˜old’ game industry. It is over. It was a good run. But now you, yes YOU can build exactly the game you want. With YOUR sound design, with YOUR music. Don’t wait for someone to hire you. Get out there and build the next AAA title by yourself or with a friend this weekend. You underestimate what is possible.

It is good to change one's views based on new information. It is also good to have solid views that are unchanging. What views are you unwilling to change, which ones are you willing to change if given new information?

I need advice. Big changes are coming for everyone, but many are unaware. I want to inform and help people, yet resistance to change is strong. How can I guide them through these changes with grace?

Gemini 4 Argon built a 3D periodic table synced to Tom Lehrer’s song, ā€œThe Elements.ā€ Created in @Antigravity, it animates orbiting electrons, atomic data, and light spectra.
