I'm worried about this button. I don't think it does what you think it does. It's being used as a signal to LLMs, to teach them how to get more "human". Not as a way to filter out junk.
This is so misleading.
1. Nvidia is selling shovels in this gold rush. They are the wrong people to worry about.
2. Earnings are irrelevant. How much debt do they have? Spoiler: they’re investing in the same companies they’re selling shovels to.
Yes this is going to blow up.
This sounds made up to me. But regardless. The booking software company should be held to account for producing bad software. This sounds like the software had very obvious flaws which stem from it being poorly engineered. This is why projects like #sel4 exist.
A man in Australia asked his agent (Claude running on OpenClaw) to book him a spot in a popular gym class. The agent found a software vulnerability that let it book the class weeks further ahead than should have been possible. When the user then asked if it could move him up the waitlist, the agent discovered the API had no authorisation checks on cancelling other people’s reservations, so it cancelled the person in the first spot and moved him up the list.
Some people will call this misalignment, but his agent was perfectly aligned to him - it was only trying to help its user get what he wanted. The most important thing about this story, in my opinion, is that it gives you a window into what is about to start happening on a massive scale once millions of people have an agent trying to get their beloved users the best seats, bookings, appointments or reservations through absolutely any means necessary.
Today @VodafoneAU called me from unknown number. I was immediately skeptical. When the caller asked for my full name I hung up and called Vodafone to see what was going on. It turns out that this call, which looked and sounded like a phishing scam was genuine!
Tell me you have no idea how LLM work without telling me.
Sometimes something superior comes too late to be useful. After years of education and effort my family has standardised on securely generated, long random passwords stored in a safe central repository with MFA. Asking us to change to a device based system is just too hard.
This is both true and not true. Writing code was never the hard part. Understanding the problem, algorithmic thinking, architecture. These are problems that are not solved by LLMs. So yes, you can get them to write code, but no, they are not engineers.
Linus is demonstrating that he’s a real scientist. He’s willing to change his opinion based on data. Thats a brave and courageous thing to do this days. Apparently.

Seriously? Who uses Facebook anymore? It’s trying to be a bad clone of reddit.
The websites that Americans most frequently visit.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
According to the study methods (Appendix B) the chart shows time on websites collected by study participants that used a browser extension only on desktops and laptops.
That is not the same as "most frequently visited" and it also doesn't include phone or tablet use.

Is there a way to make Twitter not show me obvious crap? Seriously.
Hey @grok why did engineers make this PCB trace longer instead of just taking the obvious shortest path?
That’s the thing with inventions. They always happen within a context. And people often forget that. For example, millions of lines of open source code to steal from, I mean “read”.
It’s only shocking if you’ve never been a teacher. Try getting an LLM to teach you something (like how LLMs work). They are utterly useless. Confident, incorrect and assuming the entirety of the world’s knowledge is already in my head. Useless.

I think the thing I hate most about the Silicon Valley blogosphere is how even if they fetishize mathematics, physics, and engineering, constantly reference ideas from them: eg entropy, information theory, schelling points, Nash equilibria, but when you read them invoke ideas where you know anything at all about the technical detail, you realise it’s all just absolute nonsense
The whole scene is only alive as a result of mass, collective Gellmann Amnesia
