Five key initiatives have been introduced to help businesses understand and make the most of Free Trade Agreements. These include an FTA Action Plan with 31 activities across seven objectives, an Exporters' Handbook to simplify export procedures and explain FTA benefits, a dedicated FTA Helpdesk to address exporters' queries, an FTA Module on the Trade Portal for easy access to trade-related information, and an FTA Accelerator to help businesses connect with international buyers and explore new markets. The FTA Accelerator will focus on four key sectors: Engineering and Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture and Food Processing, and Textiles. At the Madhya Pradesh Export & FTA Conclave 2026, three key initiatives were launched to simplify the use of Free Trade Agreements and equip exporters with the right guidance, tools and market connections. India has concluded Free Trade Agreements with a growing number of partner economies. In force: UAE (1 May 2022), Australia (29 Dec 2022), EFTA – Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein (1 Oct 2025), Oman (1 Jun 2026), United Kingdom (15 Jul 2026) and New Zealand (20 Oct 2026). The agreement with the European Union has been concluded. These agreements provide preferential market access for Indian goods. They provide for tariff concessions, rules of origin and trade facilitation measures, which determine how exporters may avail their benefits. Such benefits reach exporters through awareness and proper utilisation.
