A gentle caution
Marry Mubaiwa was not acquitted this day
She was removed from remand
The charge endures ; the State may summon her back whenever it finds its witnesses
Liberty from remand is not freedom from the case
Remand has ended ; the charge is very much alive

JUST IN: RESIDENT ACQUITTED AFTER PERSECUTION FOR CRITICISING CALLOUS DEMOLITION OF VENDORS STALLS
A ZIMBABWEAN court has acquitted a Chiredzi man, who had been on trial for allegedly criticising President Emmerson Mnangagwa as inconsiderate to the suffering of the majority of people in Zimbabwe following a government-backed demolition of vending stalls for informal traders.
32 year-old Nelton Matanhuse, a resident of Chiredzi, who was out of prison custody on bail, had been on trial since 12 October 2026 after he was arrested on 23 June 2026 by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers, who charged him with incitement to commit public violence as defined in section 187(1)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act as read with section 36(1)(a) of Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
During trial at Chiredzi Magistrates Court, which was presided over by Resident Magistrate Lean Chinzou, Moreblessing Rusere, a prosecutor with the National Prosecuting Authority, alleged that Matanhuse, who is unemployed, allegedly criticised the demolition of vending stalls in the sugarcane growing town of Chiredzi in Masvingo province by some officials from Chiredzi Town Council and also reportedly made some unpalatable remarks to the effect that President Mnangagwa and one Chivhayo were indifferent to the suffering of people in Zimbabwe.
Rusere claimed that Matanhuse’s alleged utterances were made at a bus terminus, where officials from Chiredzi Town Council were destroying some vending stalls, which had been reportedly erected by some vendors.
However, on 23 October 2026, Magistrate Chinzou acquitted Matanhuse, who was represented by Martin Mureri of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, and pronounced him as not guilty after ruling that the State had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, which would sway the court to convict the Chiredzi resident.

PLEASE SHARE🙏🏾 | 💰REWARD AVAILABLE💰
Please help us find this man, he stole a laptop bag containing a laptop and important government documents yesterday at a Zuva Service station in Harare.
He was working with other suspects who were driving a Toyota Fortuner GD-6. My vehicle was locked using a remote, but I suspect that they may have used a device to interfere with the locking system. They parked very close behind my car.
The attached picture is an extract from the CCTV footage. We are appealing to anyone who recognises this man or has any information that could help with the investigation to please come forward.
If you have any information, please contact Braeside Police or call 0773 599 693.

Trying too hard... Zimbabweans' public eye has shifted to Joachim “G6” Chivayo, a dealer, who has stepped deeply into the public spotlight after the recent death of the flamboyant tycoon Wicknell Chivayo.
G6 is trying - some say trying too hard - to copy Chivayo's public persona, lifestyle and political influence peddling, as well as social media stunts in a bid to carry on his cousin brother's legacy and business model rooted in presidential patronage and the National Treasury.
During his funeral eulogy, G6 seized the moment and explicitly vowed to follow Chivayo's business footprint, famously stating that while "the captain is no longer here, the ship is very stable and will continue sailing."
However, it is incredibly difficult to emulate someone completely because one would be trying to replicate the surface results of a deeply internal, personal and decades-long blueprint.

DONATIONS AND TAX LAW
A remuneratory donation (a gift in recognition of service) is not a capital receipt and like a bonus must be treated as income. For that reason, it is taxable.
The implications of this is that the entire “Go See Victor” crew that received donations not on account of mere liberality but in recognition of the work they had done or services rendered (even to the public) must pay tax.
But it does not end there.
A payment described as a gift can nevertheless constitute income where it is, in substance, remuneration for services rendered. This particularly holds for those substantial ‘gifts’ that do not form part of fees rendered. The gift will be treated as a receipt arising from income-producing activities and is taxable.
Finally, tax does not have to be on actual receipt of the gift but can also be on accrual. The net effect is that if you have been promised a taxable donation, you can still be required to pay tax even before the donation has been received.
