Firefighter and Paramedic life can be tough and on occasion, can cause stress. The DFB Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) @DfbStress team welcomed the families of #DFBrecruits to the training centre this week to teach them signs that their loved one might need help.
Our #DFBRecruits also heard from @HUGSathome_RCSI about how sometimes it's hard to leave work at the station and it can impact family life. It's important to talk to somebody you trust and to listen to them in return.

THE ADRIAN O’GRADY CUP
Today the DFB Women’s GAA team will compete against @gardainfo to raise funds for @OscarsKidsIE and @LilBlueHeroes.
The trophy that will be presented on the day is named in honour of a much respected and missed colleague, Station Officer Adrian O’Grady.
Adrian, who joined DFB in 1995, passed away in Oct 2019. As we approach this anniversary, we are reminded of the impact Adrian had on all those he worked with both professionally and personally. He was instrumental in the introduction of the peer support system (@DfbStress) within DFB and in assisting organisations in developing their own supports around Post Traumatic Stress.
The friendship, encouragement, and sense of belonging Adrian gave to so many who had the pleasure of knowing him are what we as Firefighters and team members strive to mirror in celebration of his legacy.
The Adrian O’Grady cup was kindly sponsored by @dfbssc
Day 1 of @999EMSRF conference. Our very own @CumminsNM @IPERN999 shares collaborative review details on ambulance handover/offload delays. 🇮🇪 doing more poorly in comparison to 🇬🇧 colleagues. #Stalled #ipern #999emsrf24 #triplecrown – at Cambridge, England

Replying to @StephenHearns1
@Stephenhearns1 tells us #Paramedics need to be aware of multitasking- colleagues won't hear us when they're #taskfocused. We take shortcuts #heuristics & risk losing situational control. Leaders need to be aware of #implict & explicit comms #mirroring #serialpositioneffect

Dr Paul O'Connor introduces three myths of human factors. #Humanfactors do not equal individual #nontechnicalskills. Systems level changes are also required.
Super session from @IPERN999 today on #humanfactors for #paramedics. Really thought provoking presentations from @poc_doctor and @StephenHearns1. Great facilitation skills as ever, by @Shane_Banjo – at Meath, Ireland
