Someone else's "to do list" doesn't have to be yours. It's hard to say no, but not every email, text message, voicemail or interaction warrants a response. It doesn't mean you don't like them or there's any assigned feelings to anything. It's just that time is finite and YOU get to choose how to spend yours. It's rarer than gold.

If you sell on Shopify, I’d try something with Tobi’s new skill immediately. Ask your agent to shop for the kind of product you sell. Don’t mention your brand. Does it recommend you? We’ve spent 20 years at Crazy Egg helping stores understand why customers buy. This adds a whole new question.
Turn any existing Agent into the world's best personal shopper for you. The new shop skill: shop.md/ Add the skill & connect your Shop account & finally find the thing that you always wanted

Ben Wilson (@BenWilsonTweets) has stage 4 cancer and 4 kids under the age of 5. I want to help him as much as possible, so I invited him on the podcast to talk about his work studying history’s greatest leaders and what it’s like getting told he’s going to die at 38. He’s a good guy, a close friend, and one of my favorite podcasters. His work has benefited millions of people all across the world. Please watch this episode and see if you can help with medicine, introductions, or donations. 0:00 What Ben has learned from making How to Take Over the World and studying history’s greatest leaders. 55:51 Living like you're dying. omfg @buildyourcorner has been charting in spain for months but we could NOT figure out why users couldn't access the app intermittently. even did 50 user cold calls and they kept saying they couldn't use the app at night which was annoying bc the whole use case is where to go out turns out la liga (spanish football league) has a court order letting them block cloudflare IPs during all match times to stop pirated streams aka ~360 matches × 2.5h per match ≈ 900 hours where corner is blocked i cannot believe lol

the beginning of infinity permanently radicalized me core idea is that nothing is ever settled and all of our existing knowledge can always be improved. and new knowledge lets us solve problems that on the surface appear to be permanent facts of life. and bc neither knowledge or problems are permanent, we’re always on the cusp of new discoveries and therefore new solutions. so while we have no idea on how to properly forecast the future, there is something grounding knowing that there’s still more knowledge to be discovered. and even in an era on abundant super intelligence, we still won’t reach the upper bound of knowledge creation. crazy.

Hey, so this Saturday you can come to the Grand Opening party for Tabletop Library in Berkeley all day and night. It'll be worth the drive over, you know, if you want. @BerkeleyTTL is a side quest I've been on with @andrewmason, @tabletopgrl & david c to make a whimsical place that gets us off our phones, playing with each other, and holds board gaming up for the awesomeness that it has become recently. It's been a labor of love where we've also built a dewey decimal system for games, a board game recommender service, used a card catalog from UC Berkeley as the front desk, and a dozen other little details I'd love to show you. tabletoplibrary.com/news/gra… And after the visit you can go less than a block to the comic shop (escapist) and sci-fi bookstore (dark carnival) in what must now be the nerdiest single block anywhere.

Today would have been @om's 60th birthday. I’ve been thinking about what made him so special, and part of it was that he had almost no patience for the superficial. Or the mediocre. Or, frankly, anything that had once been excellent and had decided to coast. That applied to ideas, cameras, design, writing, people, and especially coffee. Over the years, Om and I made the rounds of many of San Francisco’s best coffee shops. The moment the quality slipped, he was done. No nostalgia. No second chances. By the end, I think Linea, Coffee Movement and Golden Goat were about the only places still in the rotation. He could be wonderfully curmudgeonly, but it came from caring deeply about things. He noticed quality. He noticed effort. He noticed when someone had taken the time to do something properly. And he noticed people. Om was curious, sharp, funny, generous, sentimental, demanding, and deeply loyal. He made people feel seen. He connected people. He encouraged them. He showed up. I miss his texts, his advice, his very specific opinions, and the sense that somewhere in San Francisco he was probably drinking an excellent coffee and quietly judging everything around him. Remembering Om today, and every day.

The day after Om passed away, @photomatt wrote about an idea. Bring all of Om’s worlds together on what would have been his 60th birthday. That idea became OmFest. On September 29, we’re spending twelve hours in San Francisco bringing those worlds together. It’s a day built around what kept @om curious. The people he loved are at the center of it. So are the ideas he kept returning to. His photography and music run through the day. So do the objects he cared about and the friendships he built over decades. Matt was Om’s best friend. I’ve loved watching the care he’s putting into making this worthy of him. Come celebrate Om with us. omfest.co
