In reality, especially in Africa these economic indicators mean very little on poverty, unemployment & inequality.

Ethiopia has today increased the measured size of its economy by nearly 60% to US$210 billion following a GDP rebasing.
Government says the revision “does not mean the economy grew overnight”, but shows already existing activity that had not been accounted for.
The exercise captured activities such as artisanal mining, informal manufacturing, small-scale construction and digital financial services.
The previous GDP framework used a base year that had remained unchanged for a decade, despite significant changes in the economy.
