Okay, so. I'm sick of seeing people bitch about Game Key Cards.
I just want to give my input on them.
Full fat Game Cards for Nintendo Switch 2 (at 64gb) are 3 to 4x more expensive than a simple bluray disc. Why? Because they are flash storage. Fast Flash Storage, especially right now is NOT cheap.
Everyone bitches about the high prices of games these days, but a lot of publishers are going to start having to raise the prices of the physical releases of Switch 2 games to break even because of the media they are stored on.
Game Key Cards on the other hand, do not have that problem. They are very small amounts of storage to hold the DRM that unlocks the game, making them VERY cheap.
Nintendo is already selling physical games for $10 more than digital because of manufacturing costs. (Minus Mario Kart World)
When the Switch 2 released it was leaked by a publisher that a single 64gb Game Card cost $22. That was right before flash storage prices went up, so it's probably around $50 by now.
There are many manufacturing costs that have to be spent wisely. No publisher is going to want to spend near that much for a Game Card when you can just ship the fucking game digitally and use a Game Key Card to fill a collectors shelf, especially Indie Developers.
I don't have to like Game Key Cards to at least understand why they exist.
Being able to trade, loan or sell a Game Key Card game is a lot fucking better than having a license tied to your fucking account permanently.
As someone who owns all three current Gen consoles and a gaming PC, I have many, many faults with all of them, but Nintendo is the least offensive right now. And that's coming from someone who has hated Nintendo for over 20 years.

Support full on cart physical when you can. Gotta show Nintendo and the industry we still want real physical games.
Love to see it! If only everyone on this app was like this!

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse launches on October 15, 2026.
I think this game might be at the rumored Nintendo Direct because it was confirmed for Switch 1, but there was no logo here. I'm thinking Switch 2 version is coming.
