A little bit of DIY magic at MumsAid! 🛠️💙
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful team from @BandQ Greenwich, who generously volunteered their time to help give our space a much-needed refresh!
As a small charity, support like this makes such a difference. Having a welcoming, comfortable space for the mums and families we work with is so important, and we're incredibly grateful to have local businesses willing to roll up their sleeves and help us make that happen.
It's another lovely reminder of what can happen when our Greenwich community comes together. 💙

The sunshine set the tone for a wonderful day at the House of Commons yesterday. 🌞 @pndhelp, our Founder and CEO, representing MumsAid. Miriam said of the day:
“A privilege to be at the House of Commons yesterday for the APPG meeting celebrating the latest report from the Five X More campaign, Understanding Black Maternal Mental Health in the UK.
Thank you to Tinuke and Clo for the invitation and for bringing together such an important and thought-provoking panel discussion.
There was much discussion about how slowly change can happen. For those of us who have worked in maternal health for many years, that is a frustrating reality — which makes the continued work to listen, challenge and keep Black maternal health and mental health on the agenda all the more important.
It was lovely to see some long-standing colleagues and champions too, including Janet Fyle. 💙
Congratulations to the @fivexmore team on this important report and for continuing to amplify the voices and experiences of Black women.”

Black Maternal Mental Health Week is here! 💙
This year, the themes are Justice, Joy and Journey, and the emphasis is on going beyond the statistics to recognise the real women and families and their experiences.
BUT it feels so important to share a few of those statistics. They help set the context for why this week exists, highlighting both the inequalities that still need to be addressed and the positive impact that connection and support can have.
But for us, Black motherhood is so much more than the challenges reflected in the data.
Throughout the week, we’re looking forward to celebrating Black motherhood, amplifying voices and experiences, and recognising the joy, strength and community that deserve just as much attention.
Because while the statistics help us understand where change is needed, and the stories remind us what we're working towards.
Here’s to a week of listening, learning, celebrating and championing Black maternal mental health.
"Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief - panic over, everything is ok. Except this was just the start, and everything was not ok. That is the moment my life split in two."
Many mums whose little ones are born with medical conditions or disabilities experience this jarring sense of their experience not quite being understood.
If you are a mum in Greenwich who would benefit from this shared understanding and safe space, please get in touch. Our Mighty Acorns group would love to welcome you.

📣 Could you help us spread the word about MumsAid?
We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join us as Community Engagement Volunteers and help us build stronger connections across our local community. 💙
This is a varied, flexible role that could see you representing MumsAid at local events, fairs and awareness days, chatting to people about the work we do, connecting with community groups and businesses, and helping us promote our services, fundraising and volunteering opportunities.
There’s no fixed weekly commitment and no previous volunteering experience is required. Whether you’d like to get involved regularly or lend a hand at occasional events, we’d love to hear from you.
It could be a great opportunity if you’d like to:
✨ Make a meaningful difference to mums and families
🤝 Meet new people and build connections in your community
💬 Develop your communication and networking skills
💙 Help raise awareness of maternal mental health
🌱 Gain experience representing a charity in the community
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
If you’re warm, approachable, enjoy meeting people and are passionate about the work MumsAid does, we’d love to have you on the team.

Can you help us unlock more funding for local women and girls? 🙏
We're delighted to share that MumsAid has successfully secured a place in The Big Give Women & Girls Match Fund campaign this October!
This means that public donations made during the campaign will be doubled through match funding, helping us raise vital funds to support mums and their little ones across Greenwich with their mental health. 😍
We're now looking for supporters, both individuals and businesses, to support our campaign. You can play a direct role in helping mums access therapy, community support and practical help when they need it most.
If you or your company has an idea for a fundraising event, or any other way to help us achieve our goal, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch via direct message or email us at [email protected].
Stay tuned for more details and visit our campaign page to learn more: donate.biggive.org/campaign/…
Together, we can ensure more women and girls receive the support they deserve. 💙
We really wish this stat wasn't the same every year.
We understand that talking about suicidal thoughts can feel especially difficult for mums. There can be fear about what might happen if you tell someone, worries about being judged as a parent, or a feeling that you're supposed to be happy and coping.
But you do not have to keep these thoughts to yourself. There are people and places where you can talk openly about how you're feeling and be met with compassion, understanding and no judgement.
💙 You can refer yourself to our services via the form on our website. Or, text MUM to 85258 for free, confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
💚 Call Samaritans on 116 123 free, any time of day or night.
🏥 You can also speak to your GP, midwife or health visitor, who can help you access appropriate mental health support.
If you feel you may be at immediate risk of harming yourself, call 999 or go to A&E.
Please talk. Whether it's to us, another professional, a helpline, a friend or someone you trust — you deserve to be heard.
Together, let's change the narrative. 💙
