It's a "Fill Up Friday" and we've gone back 49 years to the USGP at Long Beach California to check in on the Wolf, driven by Jody Scheckter. It was a fast and beautiful car. From "when they were new"
One more for "Wing Wednesday". It was dark out there at night and accidents were common. Here's an early morning photo of a survivor. From "when they were new".
It's a "Wing Wednesday" and we've gone back to Daytona when Porsche 935's ruled. I like morning photos, not all have survived the long night and there's still 7-8 more hours to go. From "when they were new".
Well, I'm late today. It's a Saturday and the day that our dearly departed friend Colin Bull used to be the most active. I miss his humor and knowledge. Here's thinking about you buddy!
Well, it's a "Ferrari Friday" and a Fill up Friday" so let's have both and get our 512BB filled up. From "when they were new".
Well, It's a "Wing Wednesday" and I'm late again as usual, so let's hurry back to take a look at the Interscope Porsches, from "when they were new". The last photo is because the late, great Jochen Mass is there....May He RIP.
It's an "M1 Monday" and once again, I'm late, so let's go back 45 years or so and take a look at some of the M1's that raced at Daytona. Plus, what made them go! From "when they were new".
On one of the Islands I paddle by there's a Palm Tree that had fallen during a storm last year. I am amazed at how it has "learned" to adapt as the roots have grown down where they can reach the River for water. It's found a way to live. Amazing.
I see that this is Michael Andretti's birthday. A very talented driver. I wish I'd gotten a better photo of him. I took these in 1984 at Daytona when he and his Dad were driving Porsche 962-001. Happy Birthday Michael!
Racing the way it used to be for "Throwback Thursday". We've gone way back to 1973 and the Gulf Mirage Team is testing a V-12 engine during practice for the Daytona 24. It sounded great, but they didn't race it. From "when they were new".
Well, somebody (PJLM2?) started a "Toyota Tuesday" thread and I'm really late to the Party. All of these posts are fine and the cars look great, but what if you need to go off road? I love the RED paint!
It's a "Something Different Saturday" and I'm posting Carter Alsop, who raced at Daytona several times, She was a Stunt Woman in films and also raced motorcycles.
Celebrating the life of Ronnie Peterson, who passed away on this day in 1979. He was a great driver. I took these at Daytona in 1972 and 1975. May He RIP.
It's a "Front End Friday" and we've gone back to 1977 for the USGP in Long Beach California. Back when F1 cars sounded great....From "when they were new".
Our Friend @adriano_favetta posted that today is Clay Reggazoni's Birthday. I always liked his fast, spirited driving. I took these in 1972, then 1977. May He RIP.
Our friend Ian @ISedman commented on a BMW comparison earlier today, so I decided to post some of my photos. 3.0 CSL's taken in 75 and 76 (#59 race winner) and M4's from this year at Daytona. Fifty years....
