This really sums it up.
AOC says voting for Obama, the first black president ever, “changed the world”.
Liberals celebrate war criminals.
Communists want to get rid of the system that produces them!
AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’

Valentyna, the woman who exposed a secret Azov detention facility near Kyiv, is explaining to journalists in court why she went there in the first place.
She went there to save a man's life.
She was asked to help by a woman named Tetiana, who has also been arrested (!).
The man was in critical condition and desperately needed medical attention. He had recently undergone surgery. He had a stoma — part of his intestine had been surgically brought out through an opening in his abdomen. On top of that, he was suffering from five other serious medical conditions.
And despite all this, he was being held there against his will, by force.
Valentyna went there as a medical professional, trying to rescue a man who urgently needed help. She had no idea the place was an alleged secret Azov detention facility.
And now, because this involves the untouchable, "elite" Azov, she is the one they are going to crucify. She is the one they will persecute. She is the one they will try to blame for everything.
Not the people who held men captive by force. Not the people who were beating them. Not those responsible for what happened inside that facility.
No. The woman who came to help a seriously ill man is the one being treated as the criminal.
Do you understand the sheer perversity of this?

Feels very distasteful to me to use the victims of ICE violence as a justification to vote for a party that has openly supported ICE for years and which has no actual intention of dismantling the agency

The midterms have exposed the extent to which the right-wing AND liberal establishment drank the Koolaid.
Trump didn't win in 2016/24 because of a societal lurch to the right. Instead, he inherited an anti-establishment mood. He's losing now because he's squandering it...🧵

Pushing electoralism/reformism so workers "learn a lesson" when capital sabotages it is a disastrous failure. Look at Syriza, they funneled Greece’s mass strike wave into an election and a referendum. When they capitulated, the class lost all its momentum and class morale broke.
It pisses me off that we keep crawling back into the same fucking cycle. After 10/7, I watched people rediscover their power. Encampments. Community organizing. Jail support. Food pantries. Mobilizations against ICE. Subway turnstile jumps. Communities protecting each other. People disrupting weapons manufacturers in a SINGLE DAY. We stopped begging for change and started forcing it.
And somehow, we're right back to knocking on doors, campaigning for the lesser evil, and convincing ourselves that the next politician will stop the bombs and dismantle the very systems both parties spent generations building. How many times do we need to learn this lesson?
Maybe one day we’ll stop trading disruption for campaign slogans and collective action for political promises. Maybe we’ll remember that we forced change because we made ourselves impossible to ignore.
Our power was never in electing someone to save us. It was in organizing, disrupting, and protecting each other. Movements are supposed to hold politicians accountable, challenge the systems that sustain oppression, and build enough collective power to dismantle them.
Not become fucking campaign machines for the very people they're supposed to hold accountable.
If these election results teach us anything, is that people are hungry for a change in material conditions. Your job as communists/socialists is to educate and organize your communities. We have a lot of work to do
