HOUSTON: we have been working hard to distribute funds directly to houstonians affected by the freeze. while we have made unprecedented progress with our small team, we are currently distributing at a much slower rate than before due to the limitations/sanctions set by @CashApp

ALT an update on distribution efforts — $287,000 distributed, with $209,000 given to 2,090 houstonians who filled out our freeze request form, $51,700 given to 517 houstonians who came to one of our distribution sites, and $26,000 reimbursed to volunteers who dropped off supplies at our distribution sites. *please note that numbers are estimated based on our tracking as we wait for detailed records from venmo and cashapp

With gratitude and grace for everyone who wants to get involved and help people seeking abortions: PLEASE stop offering your home or spare room to strangers on the internet. There are lots of reasons not to AND lots of things you can do instead. 🧵

Know who definitely can’t travel for abortions? Pregnant people in prisons and jails. As we work to fight the impact of a decision that essentially amounts to judicial rape, I hope there are more abolitionist feminists today than yesterday. #abolitionnow

While we figure out our next steps during our funding pause, visit ineedana.com for resources!

Abortion *might* become immediately inaccessible as organizations and clinics try to make sense of today's ruling and how it impacts their capacity to legally work in their state. If you need care now, you can visit ineedana.com for a national clinic directory.

Abortion fund staff and volunteers could be at risk of arrest and involvement with the racist criminal justice system. As a Black, Indigenous and people of color led organization, we are holding the weight of this.

From the beginning, extremists have been targeting us. As we saw with SB8, there is an organized body of anti-abortion extremists that will use the pre-Roe abortion laws as part of a concerted campaign to intimidate and harass abortion funds in Texas. texastribune.org/2022/03/29/…
